خلف كل حالة احتجاز، حياةٌ توقفت عند لحظة الغياب، وأسرةٌ تحاول التمسك بالأمل رغم مرور الأيام دون أن تعرف ما حلّ بأحبائها.
منذ اعتقال محمد إبراهيم محمد الشامي، الموظف لدى مكتب المفوضية السامية للأمم المتحدة لحقوق الإنسان في صنعاء، يوم 6 يونيو 2024، تعيش أسرته انتظارًا ثقيلًا، بعدما مضت 28 شهرًا دون أي تواصل معه، وفقًا للمعلومات الواردة في مناشدة أسرته.
لم يكن الغياب قاسيًا على من ينتظرون محمد فحسب؛ فقد رحل والده وهو يحمل ألم غياب ابنه، بينما لا تزال والدته تتطلع إلى عودته، وتنتظر زوجته وأطفاله يومًا تنتهي فيه الحيرة ويجتمع شمل الأسرة من جديد.
اليوم، لا تحتاج أسرته إلى وعود إضافية، بل إلى إجابات واضحة وإجراءات ملموسة تنهي حالة الغموض المحيطة بمصيره، وتضع حدًا لمعاناة امتدت طويلًا.
وتبقى الأولويات العاجلة في قضيته واضحة:
• الكشف عن مكان احتجازه وحالته الصحية، وتزويد أسرته بمعلومات موثوقة عن وضعه.
• تمكينه من التواصل مع أسرته فورًا، وضمان حق ذويه في زيارته والاطمئنان عليه مباشرة.
• ضمان سلامته الجسدية والنفسية، وتوفير الرعاية الصحية اللازمة له.
• الإفراج عنه، وإعادته إلى والدته وزوجته وأطفاله، وإنهاء معاناة الأسرة المستمرة منذ اعتقاله.
إن معرفة مصير المحتجز، والاطمئنان على سلامته، والتواصل مع أسرته، ليست مطالب يمكن تأجيلها؛ بل حقوق إنسانية أساسية يجب احترامها وصونها.
محمد إبراهيم محمد الشامي ليس مجرد اسم في قائمة المحتجزين؛ إنه ابنٌ فقده والده قبل أن يراه مجددًا، وأمٌ لا تزال تنتظر، وزوجة وأطفالٌ يعيشون غيابًا لا تعوّضه الكلمات.
لا ينبغي أن يتحول طول الانتظار إلى نسيان، ولا أن تصبح معاناة الأسر خبرًا عابرًا مع مرور الوقت.
القضية لم تنتهِ… فقط تراجع الحديث عنها.
Behind every case of detention is a life interrupted by the moment of disappearance, and a family trying to hold on to hope as the days pass without knowing what has happened to their loved one.
Since the arrest of Mohammed Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Shami, an employee of the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Sana’a, on 6 June 2024, his family has endured a painful wait. Twenty-eight months have passed without any communication with him, according to the information provided in his family’s appeal.
His absence has not only been painful for those waiting for him. His father passed away carrying the pain of his son’s absence, while his mother continues to hope for his return. His wife and children are still waiting for the day when the uncertainty will end and their family can be reunited.
Today, his family needs no further promises, but clear answers and concrete action to end the uncertainty surrounding his fate and bring an end to their prolonged suffering.
The urgent priorities in his case remain clear:
• Disclose his place of detention and health condition, and provide his family with reliable information about his situation.
• Enable him to communicate with his family immediately and guarantee his relatives the right to visit him and check on his wellbeing in person.
• Ensure his physical and psychological safety and provide him with the necessary healthcare.
• Release him and reunite him with his mother, wife and children, bringing an end to the family’s suffering since his arrest.
Knowing a detainee’s fate, ensuring their safety and enabling them to communicate with their family are not demands that can be postponed. They are fundamental human rights that must be respected and protected.
Mohammed Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Shami is not merely a name on a list of detainees. He is a son whose father passed away before seeing him again, a mother who is still waiting, and a husband and father whose wife and children continue to live with an absence that words cannot make up for.
The passage of time must not turn prolonged waiting into forgetfulness, nor should the suffering of families become a passing story that fades from public attention.
The case is not over… only the conversation around it has faded.
