Virginia Girlchoir The Virginia Girlchoir is an auditioned choir for girls ages 7-15 serving Augusta County, Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, and surrounding communities.

Welcome to the Virginia Girlchoir: Your voice, your choir, your home. The Virginia Girlchoir, a newly formed community choir for girls ages 7-15 began rehearsals in September, 2014. The program is a performance-based choir, with emphasis on small and large ensemble singing and performing, as well as vocal tone production, breathing, diction, posture, and score-study. Unison and part-singing are taught, as well as sight-singing, including note reading and rhythm reading. The repertoire sung includes sacred and secular music from all periods as well as folk songs from around the world. Choristers are given enjoyable home assignments, for growth in listening and music theory assignments, to enhance sight-singing and ear training. Girls are invited to audition from Staunton, Waynesboro, Stuarts Draft, Fishersville, Charlottesville, Ivy, Harrisonburg, and surrounding areas from home schools, public, and private schools. All faith backgrounds are welcome.

General information

The Virginia Girlchoir meets at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, in Fishersville, Virginia and is a non-profit organization governed by a board. All girls from the community who love to sing, can match pitch, and can sing a melody are welcomed to audition. Presently there is one choir for ages 7-15 that meets on Mondays from 5:00-6:15 pm. Auditions for Virginia Girlchoir are held by appointment in May, September, and January. The 10-minute short audition is not scary or upsetting and will include singing "Happy Birthday" and a simple round. Children are invited to sign up for auditions in groups of 2-3 singers. The Virginia Girlchoir is tuition-based, with some tuition assistance available for deserving girls. For more information contact Julia J.
