Overview
The Mathematics Quiz Competition organized by the Mirrabel Imoto Foundation was keenly contested and brought together secondary schools from Uvwie and Effurun‑Otor communities. The event aimed to promote education, inspire young learners, and strengthen community ties through academic excellence.

Competition Highlights
- Finalists (5 schools): Alegbo Secondary School, Urhobo College, Effurun‑Otor Secondary School, Ogbe Secondary School, and Model Technical College.
- Top 3 schools:
- 1st Place: Model Technical College 🏆 – ₦100,000 cash prize and trophy.
- 2nd Place: Alegbo Secondary School 🏆 – ₦80,000 cash prize and smaller trophy.
- 3rd Place: Urhobo College 🏆 – ₦50,000 cash prize and smallest trophy.
The final round was fiercely contested, especially between Alegbo Secondary School and Urhobo College, with Model Technical College eventually emerging as the overall winner.
Additional Support
The Delta State House of Assembly Member representing Uvwie LGA, Hon. Barr. Edafe Emakpor, ably represented, awarded additional cash prizes of ₦50,000, ₦30,000, and ₦20,000 respectively to the three outstanding schools.
Special Sessions
- Mentorship Talk: Delivered by Rtd Connel Elijah O. Bratte on the topic “Mathematics: Building the Mind for Life’s Challenges.”
- Goodwill Message: From His Royal Majesty, Dr. Emmanuel Sideso, Abe I, Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, ably represented by His Chiefs, 1. Chief Abraham, The Egbe of Uvwie Kingdom, and Chief EjirOghene The Ororero of Uvwie Kingdom.
- Break Session: Lightened up with games, giving students the opportunity to relax, bond, and make new friends.
Recognition and Awards
- Certificates of participation were presented to all contestants representing their schools.
- Consolation prizes were given to other contestants who did not make it to the finals.
- Special appreciation was extended to volunteers, sponsors, and partners whose support made the event a success.
Conclusion
The Mathematics Quiz Competition was a resounding success, fostering academic excellence, unity, and friendship among schools in Uvwie and Effurun‑Otor. The Mirrabel Imoto Foundation remains committed to empowering students and promoting education as a tool for community development.
