We had a wonderful time exploring the Chassahowtizka River. The changes in this area feel pretty dramatic. There has to be an answer to the loss of aquatic vegetation along the river. While still beautiful there is a clear absence dancing grasses and schooling fish and no crabs to be seen. Video on YouTube from just a few years ago shows it there. I wonder if anyone has done soil samples to see if there are answers to what is killing the aquatic grasses. Imagine changes in sea level or salinity could play a role but it would be great to rule out herbicides.

Swing through Summer by avoiding the afternoon rain and exploring our local and state Parks! Stay hydrated, go early and take cover when you see lightning!

Stormy weather changed our plans but better to be safe! At least, it was nice cruise down the Imperial River to Bonita Beach and back to see family! We will save the island hoping for another day.
