Water Smart Tots Foundation Dedicated to preventing childhood drowning by raising awareness and providing water safety education throughout the greater Tampa Bay Area.

Water Smart Tots believes drowning is a community problem; therefore it is a community's responsibility to unite and work together to eliminate pediatric drowning. Drowning IS a preventable tragedy and no parent should have to endure the loss of losing a child to drowning.

Thank you to the Children's Board of Hillsborough County for helping make self-rescue swim lessons accessible to local families through the Float First for Infants & Toddlers program.

8 months old. One unexpected fall. One life-saving skill.

This scholarship recipient recently completed the Float First for Infants & Toddlers program funded through the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County and demonstrated the ability to roll onto their back and find air, independently.

Happy Birthday to our amazing Executive Assistant, Angelica Sessions. 🤍

Behind the scenes, Angelica helps keep so much of the Water Smart Tots Foundation moving forward every single day. From screening hundreds of applications and communicating with families, to helping with grant writing, compliance, outreach events, our galas, silent auctions, and whatever else needs to get done… she is always there to support the mission.

What makes her even more special is that so much of her time is driven purely from passion and dedication to helping prevent childhood drowning.

Angelica, thank you for all the heart, time, and love you pour into this foundation and the families we serve. We appreciate you more than you know.

Water competency and self-rescue swimming skills are an important layer of protection when accidents happen around water.

Many children who fall into the water enter face down, disoriented, or too far from the wall.

The ability to independently rotate, rest, and access air matters. 🤍

Twelve years ago this Mother’s Day weekend, three children tragically lost their lives to drowning, and one child sustained permanent injuries following a non-fatal drowning in our Tampa Bay community.

In the days that followed, the vision for Water Smart Tots Foundation was born with one mission: helping prevent more families from experiencing that kind of loss.

Today, 12 years later, we continue advocating for prevention, education, access, and lifesaving water safety skills for children and families in our community.

Today, we also honor the bereaved mothers carrying love and loss together. 🤍

Water safety should be accessible to every family. 💙

We are proud to officially announce the Float First: For Infants and Toddlers Program in partnership between and the , helping families receive up to eight FREE private survival swim lessons for children ages 6 months to 5 years old.

This first-of-its-kind partnership represents more than 10 years of advocacy and five months of collaboration to help expand access to lifesaving water safety education throughout Hillsborough County.

Lessons are provided through participating Instructors and and focus on real self-rescue and survival swimming skills taught one-on-one using the infant self-rescue and survival swim curriculum.
