Dedicated to preventing childhood drowning by raising awareness and providing water safety education throughout the greater Tampa Bay Area.

Water Smart Tots believes drowning is a community problem; therefore it is a community's responsibility to unite and work together to eliminate pediatric drowning. Drowning IS a preventable tragedy and no parent should have to endure the loss of losing a child to drowning.

Vision Zero: zero children lost to drowning in Hillsborough County. 💙

Tonight, Water Smart Tots Foundation joined families, community partners, and local leaders at Tampa City Hall to discuss drowning prevention for children with autism and other disabilities.

Our founder, Kari Bahour, shared ideas for reaching families with water safety resources and emphasized the importance of understanding the difference between recreational swim lessons and self-rescue swim lessons. Learning to roll onto the back and float during unexpected water entry can make the difference between life and death in an unexpected entry into the water.

She also shared a message of hope: let’s celebrate what children on the spectrum CAN accomplish. Families deserve to see their successes and believe in their possibilities.

Thank you to Tampa City Councilman Luis Viera - District 7,
and our partner, the Children's Board of Hillsborough County.

Together, we can work toward Vision Zero In Hillsborough County.

Tune in tonight on ABC at 11 p.m. to learn more
