The inline/roller hockey club is a non-profit making organisation, run by volunteers. All funds raised are used for equipment or club expenses. People can play for up to 4 weeks before taking out club membership, to see if they enjoy the sport. Most people can be taught the basics of skating in their first session. In the interest of safety; it is one of the clubs rules that no one can play or train without wearing a helmet with full face cage/ protection these are available to use free of charge at club training sessions. In June and November 2019 Wild Cards Inline Hockey club received 2 awards. Long Service volunteers of the year 2019 award from Pro-Action. Service to Sports Award 2019 - Special Recognition Award from Herts Sports Partnership. Covid 19 stopped play in March 2020. After 24 years of running Wild Cards inline hockey club, including successfully lobbying for a local community sport centre for inline hockey and other minority sports, we were rewarded with the use of Longdean Sport centre, with thanks to Lottery funding through Sport England also Sportspace and DBC. However due to inconsistencies regarding storage of safety equipment (primarily for children) and other matters we felt unable to continue with our voluntary work. The club has now ceased.
