It Takes A Village Africa is a community development non-profit that provides self-sufficient solutions for education, healthcare, and agriculture.

It Takes A Village Africa (ITAVA) is a non-profit, humanitarian organization that promotes education, agriculture, and healthcare for poverty stricken people in Africa. We focus on youth and local empowerment. Through ITAVA impoverished and orphaned children benefit from educational scholarships to a STEM-focused programs, free healthy meals, healthcare, and other life-nourishing support and skill

s development. Local farmers and community members receive our support through adult literacy, sustainable farming, and other poverty alleviation initiatives. We are dedicated to fighting poverty, promoting self-sufficiency, and securing a better future for all.

Today is International Widows' Day💚

In many of the communities we serve, widowhood is not simply personal grief, it is often the beginning of economic freefall. Property loss. Social marginalisation. Children removed from school. The devastating intersection of loss and poverty. Our Woman Oh Woman programme exists for exactly these moments wrapping women in community, practical skills, financial literacy, entrepreneurship support, and the radical reminder that they deserve a village too. On this day, we honour every widow who has risen through impossible circumstances and we recommit to walking with those still finding their footing🌍💚

In one of our programme communities, a woman used to spend nearly half her waking hours collecting water, hours that could not be spent caring for her children, running her small business, or resting. After our Water Project arrived, that changed. And the downstream effects were immediate: • Children's school attendance improved • Women reclaimed hours for income-generating work • Waterborne illness dropped • Community confidence and mood shifted This is not theory. A day to acknowledge both the resilience and the profound pain of displacement. 🤍🌍 At It Takes A Village Africa, we know that among the most overlooked aspects of any displacement experience is the psychological toll. The grief of what was left behind. The anxiety of an uncertain present. The deep need to be seen, heard, and held by a community. Our Trauma Resource Support programme creates that community, safe, confidential, and staffed by trained psychosocial workers who walk alongside people in their healing. Because recovery requires more than shelter and food. It requires belonging. 💚
