UK Men's Sheds Association We are the UK Mens Shed Association, bringing together sheds from across the UK, and promoting their good work.

Our mission is to enable access to a Shed for every man who wants it. We are UK Men’s Sheds Association, the support body for Men’s Sheds across the UK. We work hard to inspire and support the development of as many Men’s Sheds as possible, for the benefit of men’s health and wellbeing. We are a member organisation, representing UK-based Men’s Sheds. We raise awareness of the Men’s Sheds movement

and the many benefits of Shedding and we support Men’s Sheds in getting off the ground and thriving as community-driven, member-led entities. We don’t own or manage Men’s Sheds, but we champion them for miles around. Our mission is to enable access to a Men’s Shed for every man that would benefit from one and we won’t stop until we’ve achieved it.

We've seen bikes repaired, benches built, sheds extended and kettles boiled... but a swan made from bike parts might be a first. 🚲🦢

The brilliant team at Reddish Men in Sheds unveiled this beauty over the weekend.

As our Community Award winners at the UK Men's Sheds Awards 2025, we already knew they were making a huge difference in their local area with their award-winning Bike Giveaway project. We just didn't realise they were hiding artistic talents like this as well!

Proof that with a bit of imagination, a few tools and some old bike parts, almost anything is possible.

Show and tell time: what’s the most creative project from your Shed? Bonus points if it's made from something nobody would expect! 🚲🔨🎨

🎥Missed Monday's Diabetes Awareness Seminar?

As part of Men's Health Week, we were joined by Lee Calladine from the DRWF Diabetes for an informative session exploring diabetes, pre-diabetes and the steps people can take to reduce their risk.

In this short clip, Lee answers a question many people ask: *What does it actually mean to be told you're pre-diabetic?* He explains how the HbA1c blood test works, what the results can tell you, and why an early warning gives you the opportunity to make positive changes before diabetes develops.

It's just one small part of a wider conversation about understanding your health and taking action early.

Why not take a break from the tools, grab a cuppa and catch up on the full conversation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVQCW5PYtXY

What do Sheds mean to Shedders?

As part of Men's Health Week, UKMSA Ambassador Paul Egerton shares his own Shed story – from helping to start West Bletchley Shed nearly 10 years ago to finding new skills, new friendships, greater confidence and a real sense of purpose.

Paul has also been a key part of our Health & Wellbeing Advisory Group, helping to shape many of the resources we'll be sharing throughout the week.

Most Shedders know the value of a good MOT.

This Men's Health Week, Southam Men's Shed are reminding us that we're worth checking over too.

The camaraderie, sense of purpose and opportunity to stay active that Sheds provide can do wonders for our health and wellbeing. Taking a few minutes to check in on ourselves is just as important.

Take a look at our Man MOT Checklist and spend a few minutes thinking about your own health and wellbeing. Sometimes the smallest checks can make the biggest difference.

🪵☕ Out and About with UKMSA

Ian visited a London Shed that are doing things a little bit differently this week. Catford Outdoor Shed is a hidden oasis amongst the urban sprawl of South London.

The Kelly Kettle was already boiling when Ian arrived, ready for tea and a fire-side chat. Members shared how the outdoor setting is a real draw – offering a chance to switch off, get hands-on and enjoy good company.

Their first project was building the workbench you can spot in the photos. Since then, they've moved on to bird boxes and, during Ian's visit, were busy carving spreaders from locally sourced hazel using traditional knife skills.

Proof that a Shed doesn't need four walls to bring people together. 🧡

🪚 What happens when four local residents decide their community needs a Shed?

For St Martins Shed at St Martins Community Centre in Lambeth, it led to new friendships, community projects, volunteer support from Diageo, visits to fellow Sheds across London, and plenty of shared learning along the way.

From building benches for a community garden to exploring plans for a future workshop space, their story is a great example of how Sheds grow — one conversation, one project and one helping hand at a time.

Most importantly, it shows the power of Shedders supporting Shedders, with advice, tools, encouragement and ideas helping a new Shed find its feet.

🧡 It started with a brew... and ended in Greece.

The latest edition of Shoulder 2 Shoulder is packed with the kind of stories that remind us Sheds are about much more than workshops.

This month you'll find Shedders restoring local history, celebrating a decade of community impact, setting sail on a Greek adventure, and proving once again that when good people come together, interesting things tend to happen.

If the latest edition hasn't landed in your inbox, don't worry. You can catch up on previous newsletters and sign up for future editions on our website.

After all, you never know where the next Shed story will begin. 🧡
