JCI Community talks We think critically about society’s greatest challenges and act on behalf of our communities to be part of the solution. Ever wondered how and why?

There is a limit to what governments are able to achieve in society. Junior Chamber International (JCI) members seek ways to live out our slogan, Be Better. We seek better solutions to build better communities, creating a better future. As responsible citizens in a globalised world, JCI members take on the challenges around them through local development initiatives. These tailored projects requir

e members to use strategic and critical planning to craft creative solutions to the problems of their communities. In 2014, we are running a series of events and projects on issues that are prevalent, touch each of our lives in London, but are hidden and sometimes suffered in silence.
'JCI Community talks...' is currently addressing the topics of cancer, social isolation in the elderly and homelessness.
- 1 in 3 people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. What can you do to protect yourself?
- Loneliness and social isolation can affect everyone but older people are particularly vulnerable after the loss of friends and family, reduced mobility or limited income. You may have an elderly neighbour who hasn't spoken to anyone for months. Imagine the difference a cup of tea and a chat could make.
- Every person who walks through the streets of London will have seen someone sleeping rough, and this don't include the hidden homeless without a permanent residence. As active citizens, we have a unique opportunity and a moral obligation to create positive change in our community and ourselves by creating projects and collaborating to address these.
