General information
“Wonderful indeed that I am made instrumental for the appearance of Sri Guruvayurappan in Bangalore on the banks of Swarnamukhi rivulet in Nettigere” says the Founder Smt. Jayasuri, an ardent Devotee of Sri Guruvayurappan and an Educationist. She visualized Sree Guruvayurappan in every child. Smt. Jayasuri is the Founder of Twinkler’s School and her dream was to create a Vrindavan for her children. No doubt Lord blessed her and fulfilled her cherished dream. Another wish being to create a place of worship of Lord Krishna of Guruvayur on the banks of Swarnamukhi. She says that she is ever thankful to the Lord for she is blessed to build Sri Guruvayurappan temple in a small way. She goes to narrate how it all happened unawares and to be precise in a state of ecstasy. Her thought intensified and she gathered strength to take up the task of building a small structure to place a Panchaloha vigraha (Five-metal Idol). As she was walking on the land in the banks of the river, to her surprise, an anthill around 8 Feet height was found in a particular place and also Tulasi plants had grown profusely spreading its fragrance. Cows were grazing around. Immediately Lord entered her thoughts and identified the place of worship. Strange are the ways of God. This Temple is planned by God himself. Here the sun rays, during the month of Makara at sunrise falls at the feet of the Lord. No engineer or architect has designed this temple. The construction of the sanctum sanctorum was done by local workers and it was ready to place the panchaloha vigraha. The Founder was naïve and innocent about the rituals of building a temple. A date was decided to place the Panchloha Krishna Vigraha. Suddenly, she had a fall and fractured her leg and it was quite serious. The Panchaloha vigraha could not be placed on the prescribed date. This was the turning point. Her fall became a blessing because the whole plan changed by the visit of a person named Sree Bhava Sharma whom, she felt that he is no other than Sree Guruvayurappan himself. Thirumeni Bhava Sharma visited the spot and was pleased with the antharisksha (atmosphere and environment) and advised the Founder that a shilarupa vigraham (Stone Idol) has to be installed because of the positive powerful spiritual vibration in the environment. He himself made arrangements for a shilaroopa vigraha to be carved in Guruvayur. After a few months the Founder received the Vigraha after invoking the blessings of Lord Vadakkunnathan (Lord of the north - Shiva) and Sree Guruvayurappan from the shilpi (Artist) at Guruvayur. This holy vigraha was placed facing the Lord of Guruvayur and the Founders prayed to give power to bless the people of Bangalore. The Founders drove to Bangalore with the Lord and reached the venue in the early hours just before sunrise. As the vigraha was alighted and taken inside, two Garuda pakshi (Lord MahaVishnu’s birds) were hovering above the temple. Indeed this shakuna (auspicious symbol) proved that Lord’s presence is very much there in the temple. Nettigere Guruvayurappan Temple is well connected with the National Highway 209 (Bangalore - Kanakpura) passing through Ravishankar Ashram which is just 9 kms away from Nettigere. The temple is located exactly 20 km from the Sarakki Circle near Metro cash and carry on NH 209 (Bangalore - Kanakpura Road). The temple is located near the 39th Milestone. You need to take the left road immediately after the Twinkler’s School. The bus stop is towards the south-west of the temple. It is half an hour drive by car from Banashankari Bus Station and Bangalore Metro Transport Corporation (BMTC) runs bus every 5 minutes from Banashankari to Nettigere. Private busses too offer services to Nettigere. Saints, devotees and savants through the years have added sanctity to this spot by offering worship to Lord Sree Guruvayurappan. This place has also come to be known as the Dwarka/Vaikuntham of Bangalore. The idol installed here represents the full manifestations of the Lord Mahavishnu as attractive form of Lord Krishna endowed with the four lustrous arms carrying the Shankh (conch), Chakra (discus wheel), Gadaa (mace) and Padmam (lotus). Adorning himself with the divine tulasi garland and necklaces, the Lord here appears in all radiance. His eyes stream forth the milk of compassion and kindness. A darshan of this immortal form of Sree Guruvayurappan is supposed to give everybody "Aayurarogya soukhyam" (all kind of fortunes) in this life.
