Burke and Beyond has been building the confidence and independence of our participants for over twenty years.

We have built a reputation for our warm and supportive environments, our engagement with local communities and our support for the aspirations of everyone who uses our services. We believe in challenging our participants to get the best out of themselves, whether that means increasing their ability to travel independently, improving their fitness and wellbeing or finding a job or volunteering oppo

rtunity. Our programs are always highly flexible and tailored around our philosophy of “Inclusion that counts”. Burke and Beyond operates several services in Melbourne’s eastern and southern regions, as well as offering School Leaver Employment Support (SLES). Each of our services runs out of an inviting modern location and is well located with easy access to public transport. We deliberately keep numbers low as this fosters genuine one-on-one relationships between staff members and participants. Small groups also contribute to more friendly and supportive environments – something that is further enhanced by our low staff turnover and a generally relaxed, good-natured mood. ♻️ Thank You, Rethink Recycling! ♻️
A massive thank you to Kym and the team from Rethink Recycling for delivering such an engaging and informative workshop!
Our participants really enjoyed learning about recycling initiatives, the importance of reducing waste, and the impact recycling has on our environment. It was especially exciting to see firsthand how plastic lids and bottles are transformed—and what new products can be created from them.
A highlight for many was the opportunity to create their own product using recycled materials with the extruder machine—such a hands-on and memorable experience!
We’re incredibly excited about this new partnership and look forward to being involved in future workshops. 🌱

💇‍♀️ Hands-On Learning at Chisholm TAFE - Dandenong💄
As part of the Chisholm TAFE Certificate I in Work Education, our participants had the exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the hair salon—a dedicated space designed for Hair, Beauty, and Make-up training.
It was a fantastic experience that not only built confidence and practical skills, but also opened up new vocational interests and pathways for some of our participants. 🌟
We love seeing our cohorts explore their passions and discover new possibilities for their future!

🌸 National Volunteer Week Celebration 🌸
As part of National Volunteer Recognition Week, the City of Greater Dandenong hosted a wonderful High Tea at Springvale Town Hall to thank volunteers across the region.
Our Burke and Beyond participants have made incredible contributions to the community through various volunteering initiatives, including Vinnies Distribution Centre, Cornerstone, Springvale Library, and many more.
It was a fantastic experience to come together, celebrate, and recognise the positive impact our participants continue to make. We are so proud of their dedication and community spirit! 💛

🌱 Growing Skills, Growing Community 🌱
Our ACFE-funded Horticulture & Landscaping course, delivered through Doveton Community Centre, is giving participants the opportunity to develop hands-on skills for work in the horticulture and landscaping industry. From plant care to garden design and maintenance, participants are gaining practical experience that builds confidence and supports job-ready outcomes.
This term, participants are working on an exciting ongoing project to revamp the garden space at Doveton Community House, creating a refreshed, welcoming environment for the local community to enjoy. We’re proud to see learners continuing to grow their skills, give back, and make a lasting positive impact along the way! 🌿👏

💚 Giving Back with Vinnies 💚
Our Vinnies Warehouse volunteering group continues to build valuable workplace and life skills while giving back to the community. Through hands-on experiences, participants are developing teamwork, communication, organisation, and responsibility—all while making a meaningful difference to those in need.
We’re proud of their commitment, positive attitude, and ongoing contribution to the community. Thank you, Vinnies, for providing such a rewarding opportunity! 🙌✨

🎬 Multimedia in Action!
This term, our Multimedia group has been learning the art of scriptwriting and scene recreation. As part of their creative journey, partiicpants recreated an iconic scene from Monsters, Inc., showcasing their growing skills in storytelling, collaboration, and media production.
We’re proud to see their development and creativity come to life on screen! 👏✨

🌿 Dandenong Creek Festival Highlights 🌿
Our Dandenong participants recently took part in the Dandenong Creek Festival, a fantastic day of learning, celebration, and connection. Participants explored ways to protect and discover the local waterway through environmental education, Indigenous culture, and strong community ties.
Some of our participants also had the exciting opportunity to perform for the audience, showcasing their talents and confidence. It was a wonderful day filled with community connection, fun and learning.
