Right now, when everything feels loud and fractured, the Shema offers something radically simple: a way to come back to one - one God, one people, one moment of focus. It’s a reminder that, even across distance, disagreement and time, we are still bound together.

As the best known Jewish prayer, and one of our religion’s most fundamental, the Shema is an entry point into understanding the world of Judaism, prayer, and Torah. The Shema Initiative is a collaboration between the NJOP (National Jewish Outreach Program) and Simchat Torah Challenge, bringing Jews together in learning Torah and the prayers that bind us all.

How does the Shema Initiative work? Simple. We ask you to say the Shema, twice a day, with love.

That’s it.

If you want to go deeper, and learn how to read the Shema in Hebrew and understand its meaning, sign up to receive our Hebrew Reading Crash Course and Hebrew video course.

takes on the this week, bringing light, trust, and deep faith through the powerful double Parsha — Behar-Bechukotai. With 8 kids and a Torah-filled home, their message reflects the beauty and challenge of building a life rooted in emunah.

In Behar, Hashem tells us to let go, to stop controlling, stop chasing, and just trust. In Bechukotai, we see the result: walk with Hashem, and the blessings follow. Step away, and life starts to unravel, not as punishment, but as a loving nudge to return.

shared:

“That’s been our journey. Making Aliyah. Raising eight kids. Starting over from zero. So many moments we didn’t know how it would work. But each time, the blessing came. Not when we expected. Not from where we thought. But always… right on time.”

Akivah and Chava AKA , are challenging , , and to join the by sharing this reel to their story and adding their own reflections!

We’d love to hear from you too, share your thoughts in a story and tag & so we can spread your light!

🔎 Did you know that the parchment and even the stitching used in creating a Torah is made from a kosher animal? That's because EVERY material used in creating a Torah reflects its holiness, fusing our physical, material world with the Torah's spiritual truths. ✡️

Did you know God's name never appears in the Book of Esther, which Jews worldwide read tonight and tomorrow to celebrate Purim?

How could a book included in the Hebrew Bible not include God's name?

Perhaps the lesson for us is this: Even when we can’t always sense God’s presence, in our lives, He is always there, working behind the scenes.

Happy Purim! 🎭✨

In this week's Torah portion, Parshat Terumah, we read VERY detailed instructions 📖 on how to build God's earthly dwelling place, the Mishkan.

In Genesis, the Torah dedicates 31 verses to the creation of the entire world; the Mishkan, on the other hand, receives 450 verses. Why? 🌍

Because our task in this world is to build. If Parshat Terumah can be reduced to one simple slogan, it’s this: Get busy.

The rabbinate developed the gadget for use in field and combat conditions in connection with the outbreak of war on Oct. 7, 2023."
