Kajo-Keji Christian College held its End of Semester Holy Prayer Service, giving thanks to God for a successful academic semester and praying for the Theology students who are set to begin their examinations on Monday, 25th May 2026.
In today’s sermon, 𝐑𝐞𝐯. 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐫𝐨 reminded us that there comes a time when we must step away from theories, academics, and the busyness of life to simply listen to God.
The message was drawn from 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝟏𝟕, the powerful prayer Jesus made before His crucifixion. Even in the face of betrayal, suffering, and death, Jesus’ heart was focused not only on Himself and His disciples, but also on all future believers — including us today.
📖 “𝐼 𝑑𝑜 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑝𝑟𝑎𝑦 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑠𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑜𝑛𝑒, 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑎𝑙𝑠𝑜 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝑤ℎ𝑜 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑣𝑒 𝑖𝑛 𝑀𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑑.” — 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝟏𝟕:𝟐𝟎
✨ 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐧:
🔹 Jesus already had us in mind before the cross.
We are not an afterthought in God’s plan. Jesus prayed for both present believers and those who would come to believe in Him through the preaching of the Gospel.
🔹 Evangelism matters.
People come to faith when the Word of God is shared faithfully. As Christians, we are called to share and explain God’s Word so that others may believe.
🔹 Unity is the heart of Christ.
Jesus prayed that believers may be ONE — not through uniformity, but through love and spiritual harmony. We are called to demonstrate love that brings both Christians and non-Christians together.
🔹 Our lives preach louder than our words.
The world may never read theology books, but they read the lives of Christians every day. We are therefore called to live exemplary lives, treating others with love and living in unity so that non-believers may experience the transforming power of Christ through us.
🔹 Tribalism and division weaken the witness of the Church.
As believers, our identity in Christ must be greater than tribe, ethnicity, or background.
The sermon challenged us deeply as Christians and as a nation to reject hatred, division, and conflict, and instead become instruments of love, peace, and reconciliation.
🕊️ “𝑇ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑚𝑎𝑦 𝑏𝑒 𝑜𝑛𝑒… 𝑠𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑙𝑑 𝑚𝑎𝑦 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑣𝑒.” 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧𝟏𝟕:𝟐𝟏
May the Church rise in unity, love one another genuinely, and become a living testimony of Christ to the world.
