Nov. 11, 1918 is marked as the end of World War I. And even as the local men who had served were returning home, the American Legion was organizing in Souderton. A generation later, only months after the end of World War II in 1945, the men of Telford were bringing a post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars to town. Between them, these organizations have served their members and communities for more than 100 years. Today, on Veterans Day 2025, read about them in our historical society newsletter. In 1947 Shantz signed to play sandlot baseball for the Souderton, Pennsylvania His Nibs team in the East Penn League, rated equivalent to a Class-B minor league. He went 8-0, and 1-1 in the postseason.

The Phillie Phanatic joined the family and friends of the oldest living baseball MVP, former Phils pitcher Bobby Shantz, who is turning 100 years old. The celebration happened in his neighborhood in Ambler PA. Bobby is a veteran and veterans joined in the Party as well. 👏 Bobby is the second oldest living former major league baseball player
