Micah in Cambodia Building Capacity, Promoting Integral Mission, Networking

History

Following the fall of the Khmer Rouge in the 1980’s, the Cambodian Church once again began to establish itself in Cambodia. As Mission Agencies, Church Denominations and Christian Development Agencies began their ministries, the nature of the level of destruction upon the Cambodian people and the Nation was revealed, and forced them to reconsider their approach to Mission. s and Church denominations realised that Cambodia was in need of social justice and social action as well as a relationship with God, and Development agencies realised that Cambodia needed a renewed relationship with God as well as social action. As agencies wrestled with their theology and approach to Mission in the context of a destroyed nation, and struggled with how that compared to their organisations’ Mission and vision; groups of individuals from multiple organisations came together to explore how an integrated approach to Mission might best serve the Church in Cambodia. International NGO’s also drove forward several integrated Missional initiatives and over time, these initiatives have mostly been localised to Khmer leadership. When the Global Micah Network was introduced to Cambodia, it drove global and Asian initiatives to promote Integral Mission worldwide. Following this, there was a growing realisation by the Cambodian participants of the value of such a networking facility.
