Which is better for turkey hunting?
Run and Gun Hunting or Blind Hunting?
Run & Gun- This mobile strategy involves actively moving through the woods to locate vocal gobblers. You can cover vast amounts of ground quickly, allowing you to seek out active birds rather than waiting for them to come to you.
Blind Hunting- incredibly effective at masking movement, which is critical since turkeys have exceptional eyesight. Turkeys often ignore ground blinds placed in open fields. Blinds offer maximum concealment, comfort, and protection from elements.

I hadn't been out bear hunting yet at the beginning of May, but mom and I did try our luck at fishing. The lakes up high, still had very cold water. The fish felt like ice coming out of the water, and the leaves were not out yet, on most of the trees, at this elevation. The trout were biting though, maybe a bit more sluggish than usual, but we did quite well.

am a true bird lover! Purple Martins are definitely among my favorites. We extend our Martin houses up in late January for the scouts to find their home. Then the houses are full by mid February. They are beautiful, aeronautical, and help control some pesky insects. It is a treat to watch them put on an aerial show every evening. Are you a bird watcher?
