This past week some of our cadets from 861 were given the opportunity to go to CFB Comox. While there, they toured the 19 Wing Comox Fire Department with some hands on activities. At 407 Long Range Patrol Squadron, they interacted with the aircrew of the Aurora, as well they received a tour of the machine shop. At 442 Search and Rescue, they toured the Kingfisher and Cormorant, and they were able to try on some equipment. They were given a tour and some hands on interaction with tow planes and gliders at the RCAir Operations, as well Glider Cadets gave a briefing on how to get pilot certifications, and tips for success. Last but not least, we had a tour of the 19 Wing Comox Airforce Museum.

It is with profound sadness that we share the news that officials and emergency services have confirmed the passing of a cadet following the tragic bus accident that occurred yesterday in Sainte‑Rose‑de‑Watford, Quebec, transporting members of the Cadet Program to an activity.

Our hearts are with the cadet’s family, friends, and with all members of the cadet community who are mourning this deeply felt loss. We extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences during this incredibly difficult time.

Out of respect for the grieving family and all those affected, no further details will be shared at this time.

For those who feel moved to do so, we invite you to take a quiet moment of personal reflection in honour of those impacted. Thank you for your compassion, care, and understanding.

The 861 Silverfox Ugly Christmas Sweater Party was a great way to wrap up our final training night of the year! We also took time to recognize FSgt De Meyer, who has aged out of the cadet program. She will be truly missed, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
We can’t wait to see everyone back again in January!

On November 11th Cadets and Officers of 861 Silverfox participated in the Abbotsford Remembrance Day Ceremony. We had the privilege to join everyone who came to honour those in the past who gave their lives and those who are still serving.
