Day six is showing tremendous progress as the finishing touches begin to bring Berwick's newest mural to life. Artists Chris Perez and Jordan McKie continue their work on the agricultural-themed masterpiece covering the former Ilsley store at the corner of Main and Commercial streets—the new home of Wild Thyme Farm Market.

I've seen the mock-up, and trust me—this mural is going to amaze people. It's shaping up to be another incredible addition to Berwick's growing collection of public art.

Day one is underway as Chris Perez and Jordan McKie begin the rough outlining for Berwick's newest mural. The agricultural-themed artwork is taking shape on the former Ilsley store at the corner of Main and Commercial streets.

The building will soon become the new home of the Wild Thyme Farm Market. I had the chance to meet one of the owners and take a look inside. It's a beautiful space - open, warm, and filled with natural wood that gives it a welcoming country feel. I have a feeling this will become a well-loved gathering place and a wonderful addition to our town.

The artist Chris Perez lays out his doodle grid before he begins on the new Berwick mural tomorrow.

In this method, the artist first covers the wall with a series of random lines and shapes, creating a unique doodle grid. A photograph of the wall is then uploaded to a computer, where the mural design is digitally overlaid onto the image. This lets the artist see exactly how the artwork fits within each irregular shape. Using the digital reference, the mural is painted one shape at a time. Since every doodle shape is unique, it acts like a puzzle piece, helping keep the artwork accurate and in proportion without using a traditional square grid or projector

It's that time of the year... the Call for Proposals for our 2025 Mural Project is now OPEN!

This year's theme is "Art for Art's Sake" - this project is an opportunity for artists to follow their individual inspiration and showcase their most personal work. Whatever direction you wish to go—bold, beautiful, profound, thought-provoking—this is your chance to enjoy complete freedom of subject and style. The site is an expansive wall allowing large-scale work with great visibility on the town’s main commercial street. Dig deep into your creative well and give us your best ⭐️🎨

This mural will be located at 182 Commercial Street in Berwick, on the south-facing wall of Bargain Harley's (facing the Irving Gas Station).
