Animals First is helping to home this beautiful girl named Athena. Athena is a 3 year old Rotti who is great with kids. She is a bit picky with other dogs and she is afraid of the cat but would never harm it. Athena has been trained and knows sit, paw, high 5, lay down, comes when she is called and knows not to be in the area when everyone is eating supper, Athena does well on lamb based food as anything with chicken or other fowl tends to upset her tummy. Athena loves to be out in the bush and running free when allowed and loves going on adventures with the family. She travels well. Athena needs to be spayed and to have her vaccines updated. If you are interested in fostering, fostering to adopt, or adopting this gorgeous dog please send me a text or call me at 705-650-2378 to fill out an application. Donations toward Athena's needed vetting can be sent to [email protected] use password wehelp. Lets try to get this girl into a home where she can enjoy her summer with her new family. Thank you for "Supporting the Paw"

80 The number of cats and dogs Animals First has helped in the last 6 months. 32 The number of cats and dogs urgently needing Animals First's help right now before its too late for some of them.

You can help us help them by donating cat kibble and wet food. You can help by making a monetary donation in person or by etransfer to [email protected] use password wehelp all 1 word.

You can help save lives by fostering. We are begging for people to open their hearts and home to these animals in need. A spare room, a second bathroom, a quiet space with a large dog crate will do! Please, please we need people to give them a safe spot while we help them. We have several pregnant moms at a site where they have water only when it rains, the kittens don't make it. We are trapping there today please help them by giving a spot for them to be cared for and feel safe. Call or text me at 705-650-2378. we provide all the supplies you need to foster. The mom in this picture is still a baby herself and gave birth to 5 kittens last night. She has them snuggled into her belly nursing since they were born. We named her Elsa after the lioness in Born Free cause she fought to survive too. This little family will have the best chance because mom has water and food and will be able to feed and care for them in a safe quiet space.

We also need the short term loan of large dog crates the 42" or 48"
sizes.

The Animals First Team is incredible and we work very hard to help the animals in need in many communities in the area. You Can Help us Help Them. Thank You Everyone for Supporting the Paw!!

We are in urgent need of kibble at this time. Not just for cats already in care, but to help at a farm with urgent need to feed 20 adult cats and unknown litters of babies. Donations will be gratefully accepted at our upcoming Bar-B-Cue on June 6th at the Little Paws Cat Cafe from 11:30 to 2:30, by calling 7605-650-2378 or E-Transfer at [email protected]. Read on for this story!
You hear it on the news. You see it on social media. You may think that it’s a down-south problem. Not here. But it is here and it affects the bottom line of every rescue we have. I’m talking about hoarding, overcrowding, being overwhelmed with free-roaming breeding cats. Right now Animals First is working to remove over 20 adult cats and unknown litters of kittens from a rural area.
The owners never asked for cats. They just appeared, seeking safety in the many open buildings and used vehicles on the property. For years they have put out food to help them. But kibble prices are sky-high. There was never any money to spay or neuter even one of these cats. Multiple dead kittens are being found.
The first day on the property a friendly Mama cat named Chevy (guess where she was born?) was rescued along with her 4 healthy kittens, one adoptee that was just found on the ground somewhere abandoned, and 2 tiny orphans alive from a litter of 7 whose mother was killed on the road. They were too tiny to battle the big guys in the fight for a space at the milk bar. Without intervention, they would very likely have been 2 more casualties of a bad situation.
How can you help? Volunteer, supply food and litter etc. Reach out to folks living in rural areas with multiple cats breeding on the property. Let them know there are options, including lower cost spay/neuter programs, a safe place to surrender these cats to, and a brighter future for all! Local fosters are urgently required as well for dogs, cats, kittens, puppies, sometimes rabbits and rats. Contact your Animals First to see how you can help!

Introducing Socks. A most incredibly handsome tabby and white boy with amazing green eyes. He is about 7 years old, neutered and ready to go. His foster mom says that he has finally (after several months) stopped hissing at her. He is housed with several other shall we say “shy” cats. When she is not in their area she hears playing and fun. But everybody disappears when she comes in.
What is the best option for this unusual boy? A quiet home, preferably with people friendly cats to show him the way. Adopters with a world of patience. The miracle of a warm body snuggling against you begging for belly rubs may never happen, but HAS happened over and over again. He is neutered and ready to brighten your life with his incredible eyes!
