MYTH: Reunification means a family's challenges magically went away.

FACT: Reunification is often the result of months, or even years, of hard work, growth, support, and perseverance.

Parents may participate in counseling, parenting classes, treatment programs, and other services designed to strengthen their family and create a safe home for their children.

This Reunification Month, we celebrate the commitment families make toward healing and the community support that helps make restoration possible.

Today we celebrate the dads, grandfathers, foster fathers, and father figures who provide love, guidance, and support to the children in their lives.

MYTH: Foster care is designed to replace parents.

FACT: Foster care is designed to provide temporary care while families work toward stability and reunification whenever it is safe and possible.

Foster parents play a vital role in supporting both children and biological families during this journey.

When families receive the support they need, healing and restoration can happen.

At Desired Haven, we are incredibly grateful for the churches that continue to come alongside our families with love, generosity, and encouragement.

Whether it's cleaning supplies, cookware, Mother's Day baskets, or other thoughtful donations, each gift helps meet practical needs and reminds our families that they are seen, valued, and supported by their community.

June is National Reunification Month! It is a time to celebrate families who have worked hard to overcome challenges and reunite safely with their children.

Reunification is often the primary goal of foster care. It takes courage, perseverance, support, and hope from everyone involved.

Over the next two weeks, we'll be sharing stories, facts, and encouragement about the power of family restoration.

We loved seeing the Tipton family attend the Arkansas Division of Children and Family Services Foster Family of the Year Gala in May, where they were honored as the Area 5 Foster Family of the Year.

The Tiptons embody what it means to provide hope, stability, and love to children in foster care. Their willingness to open their hearts and home is making a lasting difference in the lives of Arkansas children and families, and we couldn't be more proud of this well-deserved recognition.

Join us in celebrating the Tipton family and all those who choose to see the one in foster care!

Over the past several weeks, we’ve shared stories of foster families, staff, children, and supporters whose lives have been impacted through the ministry of Connected Families. Each story is a reminder that real change happens when we choose to see the one God places in front of us.

One child needing safety.
One family needing hope.
One opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Because of faithful foster families, counselors, churches, donors, volunteers, and supporters across Arkansas, families are being built, strengthened, and restored every single day.

Thank you for walking alongside us in this mission. Thank you for praying, serving, giving, fostering, encouraging, and believing that every child and family matters. Foster Care Month may be ending, but the mission continues. And there is still a role for each of us to play.
