SUMMER TRACK TUESDAY

This week, the workout will be a 18 x 200m followed by 5 sets of "strides". 200m is only halfway around the track. That seems short, but you'll be feeling it by the end. Pace yourself to finish strong.

Remember, the workout starts promptly at 7:00 PM, so arrive 20 minutes early to warm up individually. There are bathrooms in Forkel Hall, next to the track. Enter the front door and turn left (don't worry about the signs - we have a permit to be there).

SECOND SUNDAY GROUP RUN

It's our Second Sunday Group Run at Rockland Lake tomorrow. Come along to find out what crazy idea Run Leader Dan has in store for the group photo this week!

We meet at Parking Field #6; look for the Rockland Road Runner group near the new Doug Vassilatos memorial bench and check in with Dan. Parking is free. Feel free to bring a friend - just ask them to register using the link below. We run one or two flat inner loops of the lake (3 or 6 miles). All paces are welcome and you can't get lost. Just keep the lake to your right! 🤔

Congratulations to our 2026 Bruce Yang Memorial Scholarship recipients, Andrew Dempsey and Bridget Dunn!

The Bruce Yang Memorial Scholarship honors graduating seniors who exemplify the qualities that Bruce brought to Rockland Road Runners throughout his life: dedication, leadership, perseverance, service to others, and a love of running.

Bridget Dunn distinguished herself as an outstanding student-athlete, team captain, and New York State steeplechase champion. Her determination, humility, and commitment to her teammates embody the spirit of excellence and resilience that this award seeks to recognize.

Andrew Dempsey demonstrated exceptional leadership and community involvement through his volunteer work with youth runners, technology education programs, and local charitable organizations. His initiative, service-minded approach, and lifelong connection to the running community reflect the values Bruce championed.

Both recipients impressed the scholarship committee with their accomplishments in athletics, leadership, community service, and academics. We are proud to recognize Andrew and Bridget as this year's scholarship winners and wish them continued success as they begin the next chapter of their journeys.
Congratulations, Andrew and Bridget!

The committee was impressed with the quality of all the applicants this year, and are pleased to be able to grant lesser awards to all the Scholarship Finalists, Katie, Trevor, Eamonn, Chloe and William.
If you are, or have a family member who is, a college bound athlete in 2027, please remember that a key requirement is to have volunteered at a Rockland Road Runners race. Upcoming races this year are the. The Annual Women's Distance Festival, South Nyack 10-Miler, Knickerbocker Mile, The 1st Annual To Infinity & Beyond Halloween 5k Run/walk, Turkey Trot and Snowflake 5K.

MEDAL MONDAY

This might be the medalist Monday of them all! With the NYRR Mini 10K and two local trail 10K’s on Saturday and four 5K’s on Sunday. RRR were on fire this weekend.

Running buddies Eliana Emrani and Alisa Kaufman triumphed on Sunday, but at opposite ends of two counties! Eliana was first overall woman at the GWB Challenge 10K and Alisa was first overall woman at the North Rockland Community 5K. On the men’s side, RRR swept that race, with Thomas Cobb, Shaun Fyffe and Tyler Perry finishing 1-2-3.

Only one person crossed the river to run the Rockwood Ramble 10K, but she made it count. Alison Meyer took first in her age group there. Elsewhere on Saturday, we had 9 finishers at the NYRR Mini, 5 finishers (and 4 age-group awards) at the inaugural Squatchy Hooky trail 10K at Rockland Lake. On Sunday, 9 finishers at the GWB Challenge 10K (with 3 additional age group places), 11 at the North Rockland Community 5K (with 9 overall or age group places), 4 at the Tenafly 5K, where Mike Kim was second in his age group and 2 in Blauvelt at the Lions Journey for Sight 5K.

SUNDAY GROUP RUN

It’s been a busy weekend, with two local 10K Trail races today, the mini 10K in the city (way to go, RRR ladies) and four (count ‘em, four) 5K’s tomorrow. But if you just want a relaxing turn or two around the lake, we’ve still got you covered.

Someone will be there to get you started, but may not be able to stay. Anyway, you all know the drill. Just don’t step on any turtles crossing the path!

We run one or two flat inner loops of the lake (3 or 6 miles). All paces are welcome and you can’t get lost so long as you keep the lake to your right! If this is your first time running with us this year, please register using the button below.

Meet at Parking Lot #6 (that’s just past the toll booth at the northern entrance) for a 7:30 AM start. Look for the Rockland Road Runner group near the new Vassilatos Memorial Bench directly ahead as you enter the lot. Our green pennant should be fluttering in the wind.
