Our March Monthly Update is now live on the YITC website! 🎾The highlight of the month was the wonderful three-day visit from the Singapore Cricket Club (SCC) Centennial team from March 20–22. Please allow me to provide a quick update regarding this year's IDT. We have already received the maximum 16 entries for the Mixed Doubles, and therefore the applications are closed. We still have 6 spots open for the Men's Doubles, so please apply soon if you would like to play. The deadline for entries is April 25.

Dear Tennis Friends,

We are excited to announce that the 38th International Doubles Tournament (IDT) will be held at YITC on Saturday, May 16, 2026. In case of rain, the tournament will be played the following day (Sunday, May 17).

The Governor's Cup will be awarded to the victorious Men's Doubles Team and the Mayor's Cup will go to the Mixed Doubles winners. Like last year, we are accepting a maximum of 24 entries for the Men's Doubles and 16 entries for the Mixed, so please sign up early to avoid missing out. If you hold a non-Japanese passport and are seeking a partner for the IDT, please contact the YITC office.

皆様、こんにちは。
またこの季節がやってきました。今年も地域のために、素晴らしいハロウィンイベントを開催することができました！
10月26日、ご家族やご友人、ご近所の皆様が「スタンプラリー」のスタンプを求めて集まり、YITCがその最終地点（ゴール）となりました。週末の雨模様にもかかわらず、多くの方が色とりどりの仮装と明るい笑顔で訪れ、会場は活気に満ちたお祭りムード一色となりました。
クラブメンバーは前日から準備を進め、たくさんの方に来ていただけることを願っていました。写真をご覧いただければお分かりの通り、それはチームワークと地域の絆を感じられる、楽しく充実したひとときでした。
私たちメンバーの多くも仮装をして、イベントの雰囲気を存分に楽しみました。「誰かのために行動すれば、必ず楽しい時間がついてくる」――こうしたイベントは、そんな大切なことを私たちに思い出させてくれます。
また来年、皆様にお会いできるのを楽しみにしています。ちょっとした帽子や遊び心のあるアクセサリーを身につけるだけで十分ですので、ぜひハロウィンの雰囲気を、そしてもちろんテニスコートでの時間も一緒に楽しみましょう。
もしテニスをされない方でも、全く問題ありません。YITCでは、あらゆる年齢、レベル、国籍の方に向けたレッスンをご用意しており、私たちのコミュニティに歓迎いたします。

Hello Everyone,
Here we are again, another year, another wonderful Halloween celebration for the
community!
On October 26, families, friends, and neighbors came to collect their “walk stamp,”
with YITC as the final stop. Many arrived in colorful costumes and cheerful spirits,
turning the day into a lively and festive gathering despite the weekend rain.
Club members prepared everything the day before, hopeful of a good turnout. As
you can see from the photos, it was a fun and rewarding time for teamwork and
connection.
Many of us also enjoyed dressing up in costumes and joining in the spirit of the
day. Events like this remind us that when we do things with others in mind, good
times always follow.
We look forward to seeing you next year. Even a simple hat or playful accessory is
enough to join in the spirit of the celebration — and of course, to enjoy some time
on the tennis courts. If you don’t play tennis, no problem. YITC offers lessons for all
ages, skill levels, and nationalities — everyone is welcome to join our community.

10月13日に、ニュージーランド・オークランドにあるパーネル・ローン・テニスクラブ(Parnell Lawn Tennis Club )のグラント・ワラー（Grant Waller)会長が来場されました。このクラブは、CTC（Association of Centenary Tennis Clubs)の加盟クラブで、創立は1872年と当クラブより6年早く設立された歴史あるクラブです。
ワラー会長は、日本にお住まいだったこともあり、少し関西訛りのある流暢な日本語で会話されていました。
　当日は、当コミュニティのメンバーと数セットプレーを楽しまれた後、YITC恒例のポットラック形式の懇親会にご参加いただき、多くの方々と親しく交流されました。また、ワラー会長からは、ぜひ「ニュージーランドのクラブへもお越しください」とのお誘いをいただきました。

Hello Everyone,
On Saturday, August 23rd, YITC hosted a Yukata BBQ Party where members, guests,
and neighbors gathered, some dressed in colorful yukata that brought energy,
elegance and tradition to the occasion. What a festive and warm atmosphere!
Guests enjoyed a variety of culinary delights prepared with TLC (Tender Loving
Care) by a dedicated team, alongside a BBQ crew serving the best tasting freshly
grilled yakisoba and meats. It was all a collective effort that started long before the
event made for a beautifully organized, memorable and welcoming experience.
Highlights of the evening included the welcoming of four new members and
introducing our weekday YITC Cup winners, who were honored with a trophy
presentation. Applause, laughter, and smiles filled the clubhouse, keeping tradition
alive while warmly welcoming new members.
It was truly a day to remember at YITC, celebrating new friendships, camaraderie,
and a community that unites us all. The beautiful sky and the mild breeze in the
evening led to a perfect setting under the festive lanterns in the garden.
If you would like to be part of this community, we will take our best step forward to
embrace every lover of tennis and all who wish to be a part of its spirit. Join us
YITC or at least next year at our annual Yukata BBQ Pary.

YITC浴衣BBQパーティーのご報告
皆さん、こんにちは。
去る8月23日（土）、YITCにて恒例の「浴衣BBQパーティー」が開催されました。
メンバーやゲストの方々、そしてご近所の皆様にもお集まりいただき、会場は大変な賑わいに。中には色とりどりの浴衣で参加してくださった方々もいて、その姿がパーティーに一層の華やかさと日本の風情を添えてくれました。本当に温かく、お祭りのような素晴らしい雰囲気でしたね！
パーティーでは、準備チームが心を込めて腕を振るった美味しい料理の数々が振る舞われ、BBQチームは焼きたての絶品焼きそばやお肉で皆さんをおもてなし。この日のために、ずっと前から準備を重ねてきたスタッフ皆の努力のおかげで、参加された一人ひとりにとって心に残る、温かい時間をご提供できたのではないかと思います。
この夜のハイライトは、4名の新しいメンバーの歓迎、そして平日開催のYITCカップ優勝者の表彰式でした。トロフィーが授与されると、クラブハウスは大きな拍手と笑い声、そして笑顔でいっぱいに。伝統あるイベントを大切にしながら、新しい仲間を温かく迎え入れる、YITCらしい素敵なひとときとなりました。
新しい友情、仲間との絆、そして私たちを一つにしてくれるコミュニティの素晴らしさを改めて感じられる、まさに思い出に残る一日でした。夕暮れ時の美しい空と心地よい風、そして庭を優しく照らす提灯の灯りが、最高の夏の夜を演出してくれました。

【元プロテニスプレーヤー・吉田友佳さんが来場！】
先日、元プロテニスプレーヤーの吉田友佳さんが当クラブに遊びに来てくれました！🎾✨
現役時代は、WTAランキングでシングルス52位、ダブルス51位を記録し、全米オープンのダブルスでベスト8に進出するなど、世界で活躍されたトッププレーヤーです。また、全日本テニス選手権では単複で優勝を果たし、フェドカップの日本代表監督も務めるなど、輝かしい経歴をお持ちです。
当日は、直接お話をさせていただいたり、一緒にテニスをさせていただくなど、貴重な時間を過ごすことができました。何よりも、そのお手本のような、無駄のない美しいフォームには、私たちスタッフ一同、ただただ見とれてしまいました！吉田さんの明るい人柄と、テニスに対する熱い想いに、大きな刺激をいただきました。
吉田さん、本当にありがとうございました！ぜひまた遊びに来てくださいね！

【Former Professional Tennis Player, Yuka Yoshida Visits Us!】
We were so honored and excited to welcome former professional tennis player, Yuka Yoshida, to our club the other day! 🎾✨
During her career, Yuka Yoshida was a top player who competed on the world stage, achieving impressive WTA rankings of No. 52 in singles and No. 51 in doubles. She also reached the doubles quarterfinals at the US Open, won both the singles and doubles titles at the All Japan Tennis Championships, and served as the captain of the Japanese Fed Cup team.
We had a fantastic time chatting with her and even playing some tennis together. We were all captivated by her beautiful, textbook-perfect form—it was a true masterclass! Her bright personality and passion for tennis were incredibly inspiring to our entire staff.
Thank you so much for visiting, Yuka-san! We hope to see you again soon!

7月27日、横浜市テニストーナメント「シニア男子60歳以上」の決勝戦が行われ、YITCチームがGODAI白楽（上海虎）を3勝0敗で下し、初代王者に輝きました。当日は最高気温32.8℃、暑さ指数（WBGT）31℃という過酷な環境の中、熱戦が繰り広げられました。

第一試合（宮崎／松山ペア）:
0-2と苦しいスタートを切ったが、宮崎のサービスで流れを変え、5-4と逆転。その後、5-5の接戦を制し、7-5で勝利。

第二試合（金井／大石ペア）:
ラケットの調子が悪く0-2とリードを許したが、大石が元のラケットに戻すと安定し、金井の強力サーブも活躍。6-4で勝利。

第三試合（薛／藤原ペア）:
薛の堅実な守備で3-0とリードするも、一時5-5に追いつかれる。しかし、藤原の冷静なプレーと薛の守備が復活し、7-5で決着。

3試合とも接戦でしたが、YITCチームはチームワークと粘り強さで完勝。会場には多くの応援が駆けつけ、初代王者の快挙を祝福しました。来年の連覇にも期待がかかります。

On July 27, the finals of the Yokohama City Tennis Tournament "Men's Senior 60+" took place, where the YITC team defeated GODAI Shiraku (Shanghai Tigers) 3-0 to become the inaugural champions. Despite extreme conditions - with temperatures reaching 32.8°C and a heat index (WBGT) of 31°C - the match was fiercely contested.

Match 1 (Miyazaki/Matsuyama Pair):
After a tough start at 0-2, Miyazaki’s serves shifted the momentum, allowing them to take a 5-4 lead. Though the opponents fought back to 5-5, Matsuyama held his serve and broke the opponent’s to secure a 7-5 comeback victory.

Match 2 (Kanai/Oishi Pair):
Oishi struggled early with a new racket, falling behind 0-2. However, after switching back to his old racket, his play stabilized, and Kanai’s powerful serves proved decisive in a 6-4 win.

Match 3 (Xue/Fujiwara Pair):
Xue’s solid defense helped them take a 3-0 lead, but the opponents leveled at 5-5. Fujiwara’s composure and Xue’s regained defensive focus sealed the match 7-5.

Though all three matches were close, YITC’s teamwork and resilience led to a clean sweep. Many club members cheered them on, celebrating their historic victory. Expectations are now high for a repeat triumph next year.
