Greetings B**r Lovers
I was a bit hasty in announcing that the Black Horse at Castle Rising and the Nelson at Clenchwarton were open in my last email. The Nelson is now open under a new name. It is called The Pub and had three b**rs, all from Elgoods plus Hawkstone keg when we called in last Saturday on our way back from an enviable trip to watch Parson Drove play Gorleston Reserves. We also called at the Potting Shed at the Secret Garden where the excellent pub was selling a couple of b**rs from Tydd Steam. Well worth a visit if you can find it at Wisbech St. Mary.
Also incorrect was the location of the bakery at the White Horse. It is the one at Holme-next-the -Sea rather than the one stated.
The Black Horse at Castle Rising posted a statement on their page on the 17th April.
Good evening Ladies & Gents,
So today, Amy, Jay & I had our final meeting with the senior boss at Stonegate. It all went very positively, and we really are at the final hurdle now. However, we have been informed that it could take up to 2 weeks to get the final bits done. 2 very frustrating weeks. I can only imagine that many of you have been just as frustrated as us that with all this lovely weather you are unable to sit out in our garden. Well all I can say is that with a bit of luck from the gods the rest of the summer can be spent relaxing and sipping on freezing cold b**r and eating tasty locally sourced food in said garden! You have all been so incredibly supportive in our time of need and we will never forget that. As a family we can only ask that you stick with us a little bit longer and we can assure you that you will all have your pub back and it will be better then ever! Watch this space ###
Shannon, the former chef at the award-winning Harpley Rose and Crown has been reported to be working at the Sandboy in Bawsey.
An application has been made to build staff accommodation at the Ffolkes in Hillington to provide round the clock security for the premises.
The former jewellers on Chapel Street have been bought by the Crown and Mitre and will be converted into bed and breakfast accommodation connected with the pub.
The Eagle and the Gatehouse in Lynn have both recently undergone refurbishment and have reopened after a period of closure.
There is new management in the Swan in South Wootton, though it still has an advertising board outside.
The Warehouse Tap at Setchey is still closed after the fire, but it is hoped to start work on refurbishing the kitchen shortly. Meanwhile B**rs of Europe and the antiques centre continue to trade as normal and beginning on 3rd May a monthly farmers and craft market will be staged.
We have decided on our first B**r Tasting Session which will be held on Sunday 25th May at our house in Lynn at 3. 00. It’s about 10 minutes’ walk from the bus station. This is a free event, and the b**r tasting will be followed by a buffet provided by Ros. We have a load of b**r to get through, so email me if you would like to come along. Nondrinking partners are welcome.
