Lifetime learning is one of the laudable goals of higher education! It contributes to brain health & development as well as creative problem solving & new discoveries that enhance the quality of life for everyone!

1 Corinthians 13:12 says we see as in a mirror dimly. Deuteronomy 29:29 says, "The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us." These passages declare that there are things about God, his creation, and his purposes that in this life we will never fully comprehend. On the other hand, we are to seek, know, and understand what God has revealed. Proverbs 18:15 states, "The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out." While we will never know and understand everything, there is great reward in pursuing knowledge and understanding with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength (Deuteronomy 4:29, Mark 12:30).

Wisdom from Proverbs 18:17 for everyday life & scientific as well as other fields of research!!

I did not know any Christians during my childhood but I heard one of my elementary school teachers make a statement that years later I discovered was in Proverbs 18:17, "The first to present his case seems right, until another comes forward and questions him." Hearing this statement, motivated me to always seek out and evaluate dissenting critiques before accepting any claim. This principle even applies to peer-reviewed scientific papers. The claims made in any such paper need to be judged by other peer-reviewed scientific papers where critiques or evaluations of the claims are provided.
