UPDATE ON LINEAR PARK REVITALIZATION TIME-FRAMES

Dear Park Friends,

The City of Toronto has sent us an anticipated schedule for the revitalization of George Hislop and Norman Jewison Parks. The dates are as follows:

Issue for Tender – April 2022
Contract Award – September 2022
Construction begin – Fall 2022
Construction complete – Fall 2023

Plans for the parks can be found below. We have reached out to both the City and Republic Developments, to determine whether the proposed development of 15 Charles Street East might impact these dates.

Dear Park Friends,

Republic Developments has submitted an application for redevelopment of the Anndore House, at 15 Charles Street East, into a condominium building. The proposal also intends to add space to George Hislop Park through demolition of the buildings at 20 Isabella.

We will be actively monitoring this development and sharing with you any upcoming information.

This Thursday at 5pm, Sanctuary Toronto will be providing the COVID-19 vaccine for individuals unable to access formal clinics. This includes those experiencing homelessness, s*x workers, undocumented immigrants, and others.

If you are unable to access a formal clinics or know someone who falls into one of these categories, we encourage you to spread this message.

CONSULTATION SURVEY ACTIVE

The City of Toronto is conducting it's final consultation survey for the Linear Parks. This survey closes on Friday, March 12th at 11:59PM. Make sure you submit your input before the deadline!

Improvements are coming to the Yonge Street Linear Parks network, including George Hislop Park, Norman Jewison Park, and the Alexander Street Parkette!

Happy Tuesday everyone! The City of Toronto is hosting its second public engagement meeting for the Yonge Street Linear Parks, TOMORROW NIGHT from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Here staff will be presenting on the final park design and next steps. Construction is anticipated this summer!

A friendly reminder that the next public meeting for the Yonge Street Linear Parks revitalization will be held on Wednesday Feb 17, from 6:30 to 8:30pm,. Following previous engagement, the City will be presenting and seeking input on the finalised designs for George Hislop Park, Norman Jewison Park and Alexander Street Parkette.

The City of Toronto, Parks Forestry and Recreation, will be hosting an online public consultation about the Linear Parks on Thursday November 5th, from 6:30-8:00pm. This will cover the forthcoming improvement to the parks, and allow for community feedback on the process and design.

REMINDER - there is ONE DAY left to submit consultation responses for yongeTOmorrow.

The City of Toronto is studying ways to increase pedestrian space and improve the way people move through and experience Yonge Street between College/Carlton Street and Queen Street, and it needs your input.

Part II of this project will study improvements between College/Carlton Street and Davenport Avenue.
