Guided reading, reading aloud, reading together, reading while walking, drinking, and meditating… during this event, you are invited to read with us and with others in order to collectively explore new ways of engaging with meaning and text.

The final week of Sonic Acts Biennial 2026 is here. 'Melted for Love' enters its closing days, with a final series of events across the city. 💗 Join us for one last sequence of gatherings, performances, and reflections.

Wed 25 Mar ♥ Exhibition Tour at Framer Framed with curators Fabienne Rachmadiev and Angeliki Tzortzakaki. Moving through 'Between Fires: Irradiated Imaginations and Anti-Nuclear Solidarities', the tour connects nuclear histories, memory, and resistance, alongside buulbuul's performance 'The Burial of a Brown Goose'. Free entry.

Thu 26 Mar ♥ 'Heart Rests Twice' concert 5 at murmur. Final edition of the series with Hannah Hajar, Nour Sokhon, and Nina Garcia & Maria Bertel, exploring how sound can carry narrative, transforming and retelling stories.

Fri 27 Mar ♥ 'Redistributing Solidarity' workshop led by Joachim H. Ben Yakoub and Reem Shilleh. A one-day session exploring Arab pirate radio archives from 1980s Brussels and practices of memorial restitution through sound.

Sat 28 Mar ♥ 'In Conversation with Jeremy Deller' at Singelkerk. A lecture by Jeremy Deller followed by a Q&A with curator Zippora Elders, on folk traditions as living history, tracing how collective rituals shape memory and belonging.

Sat 28 Mar ♥ 'As We Tremble' concert evening at Singelkerk. With Dylan Kerr, Laura Ortman, and La Nòvia, the programme reimagines folk traditions through drone, amplification, and noise.

Sun 29 Mar ♥ 'The Space that Listens' at Rijksakademie. The final presentation of the 'Spatial Sound Course', where installations and performances explore space as a resonant instrument. – Fully booked.

The full programme and tickets for all Sonic Acts Biennial events just dropped 🔔

From 5 February to 29 March, Amsterdam becomes a field of listening as more than 200 artists gather across exhibitions, concerts, films, performances, workshops, club nights, and conversations at over twenty locations across the city.

The Biennial theme ‘Melted for Love’ asks what it means to create a sense of home when safety and belonging can no longer be taken for granted. Through sound, memory, and care, the programme explores how people and places melt into each other to create fragile structures of refuge.

Live performances and concerts run throughout the programme: the six-hour Expanded Experience at Muziekgebouw, and two Spatial Sound Concert evenings at Paradiso on the Acousmonium. Across the city, Gesture and Screech ignites OCCII, As We Tremble fills the Singelkerk, Silence unfolds at dawn in the Oude Kerk, and Heart Rests Twice takes place weekly at murmur.

Much of this energy culminates during the Festival Weekend, making it one of the best times to visit the Biennial. From Thursday to Monday afternoon, the entirety of Amsterdam becomes a continuous site of activity, with performances, screenings, talks, installations, and more. The weekend closes with a late-night club programme at Garage Noord, spotlighting artists and turntablists working with rap, chanting, singing, and screaming.

We’re thrilled to share the final artists for the 2026 Biennial, ‘Melted for Love’. With this last wave of names, the programme comes fully into view – a vibrant, Amsterdam-wide, resonant field of practices spanning sound, art, and collective listening 🔊

The Listening Room exhibition, developed with INA GRM, expands with Tomoko Sauvage, Jana Irmert, François J. Bonnet, Olivia Block, Maria W Horn, Daniel M Karlsson, Jules Négrier, Miodrag Gladović, and Michèle Bokanowski, forming an environment where sound becomes architecture, memory, and resonance.

At Muziekgebouw, the six-hour Expanded Experience is completed with large-scale AV works by Paul Jebanasam, Pierce Warnecke & Matthew Biederman. Across the city, the live concert programme expands: at OCCII, with a high-voltage night featuring Gesture and Screech, Jiyoung Wi, Tzu Ni, Finlay Shakespeare, Roc Jiménez de Cisneros, Scott Gordon, and Petronn Sphene, while at the Oude Kerk, Allan Gilbert Balon joins the early-morning Silence programme.

The Biennial’s two club nights ignite the festival weekends: a dusk-till-dawn showcase at Garage Noord featuring Nick Klein, DJ DIE SOON & Rully Shabara, Jokkoo Collective, LINTD, Porter Brook, and Bergsonist, and an opening celebration at Bar San Francisco with Lucia Kagramanyan, Honey Jazz, and Mayss.

Across W139, Arti et Amicitiae, Rozenstraat, and Framer Framed the exhibition programme is completed with Christian Nyampeta & Kivu Ruhorahoza, Haig Aivazian, Marshall Trammell, Aigerim Seitenova, and Maïa Tellit Hawad alongside many others.

This edition marks Sonic Acts Biennial’s biggest exhibition to date. Opening throughout February and March, ‘Melted for Love’ unfolds across W139, Arti et Amicitiae, and Rozenstraat, with a ‘satellite exhibition’ at Het Documentaire Paviljoen, and a special collaboration with Framer Framed.

‘Melted for Love’ explores how home is renegotiated under climate catastrophe, colonialism, and forced displacement, bringing together newly commissioned installations, films, sound works, and performances. By listening to what remains, we turn to gestures of love as a practice of resistance and repair. Together, we learn how listening, care, and collectivity might offer ways of living otherwise.
