Welcome to Prickly Bottom Hedgehog Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, based in Ivybridge in the South Hams. We are based at home because there proved to be a need for this type of centre, we stepped up and took the challenge, offering help and support to this endangered, beautiful little creature. Their increasingly complex needs, caused by our changing climate and, in part, our own impact on their traditional habitat, has left these wonderful little creatures struggling in today's world. We try our best, with limited space and funds, to help as many as we are able. We currently have more than twenty hogs needing daily attention that includes medication, cleaning, feeding and other health checks. Some of our smaller hogs have their own heat pads to help to keep them awake during what should be their hibernation time as they are too small to hibernate, some are also poorly and need heat mats too. We also work with, and are recognised by, the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and Vale Wildlife Centre. We have attended some first aid courses for hedgehogs as well as having received training from National and local centres in order to help us to support our Prickly Bottomed friends and their often complex needs. We are not funded, paying for vets fees, food and hedgehog needs ourselves however we do accept and welcome donations towards their costs for foods, their care, housing needs and vets bills. We welcome any donations of food for them, cat biscuits or tinned meaty cat or dog food, we need funds to buy more heat mats, about £60.00 per heat mat, cages and bedding, vets bills. We also need old newspapers for their cages and bedding. If you are able to help please follow the below links to donate:
