First Aid volunteers needed for TAG Fall Cave-In, round two!

Thank you to everyone who has already signed up. We still have gaps, and the biggest are Friday and Saturday nights, 8 PM to midnight (as well as on-call overnights but we know that’s a tough ask). Party Time is when the tent is expected to be the busiest, and when we most need people who can stay with someone during a hard night.

While we welcome volunteers of all genders, we especially need women volunteers. This year the First Aid tent is also a safe space for anyone who thinks they may have been drugged or sexually assaulted, and many people in that situation will feel more comfortable with a woman by their side.

You don't need medical training to help. If you'd like to serve as a patient advocate (staying with someone, keeping them company, and helping them feel safe and heard), we would welcome you. We'll walk you through the role before your shift.

You won't miss the big moments. The First Aid tent is in the thick of the action, and we can relieve you or move you to on-call for events like the fire lighting.

To sign up or ask questions, reach out to Jennifer Young. You can DM her on Facebook, call or text 770-356-8363, or email [email protected].

Thank you for helping keep our community safe.

Hi Fellow Cavers,

The staff of the TAG Fall Cave In are still looking for a few energetic volunteers to lead a trip or two during the event next week.

If you would be interested in helping lead a vertical or horizontal trip during the Cave in, let us know! It can be any size group or destination you feel like working with, and we fully intend to have everybody back for any evening festivities. We can even provide some suggested nearby destinations, just need help organizing trips.

Please direct inquiries towards Hayden Young (NSS74026) on Facebook or through the NSS directory for more information!

Born around 1,000 campfires, Muchos Garcias celebrates gratitude and the many Garcias of the world that we have known, caved and partied with along the way.

With their signature sound, Psychedelic Swamp Rock, Muchos Garcias brings the groove for cavers to get down with their friends after a hard day of caving or chilling.

Come dance the night away with MG as they play their 3rd TAG Fall Cave-In!

Cash is king where service is skimpy. Between Vendors Row and Food Truck Avenue, our WiFi will be maxed. Don’t leave your stomach hanging on a menu, bring cash to be safe! Can confirm, Imari Eats is well worth the extra effort!

Drooling already just making this post.

To cocoa or not to cocoa, that is the question. Please take note of the QR code at the bottom of this image.

Under the Light of a Caver’s Moon

The red truck waits beside the stream,
Underneath a moonbeam’s gleam.
The quiet woods begin to hum,
Here the happy cavers come!

They pile the logs up high and tall,
A giant fire for one and all.
It crackles loud and pops and sparks,
Lighting up the starry darks!

Hundreds gather 'round the heat,
From muddy helmet down to feet.
They tell tall tales of caves below,
While the orange embers glow.

The full moon watches, round and high,
Winking from the purple sky,
Saying, "Hush, little caver, the fun starts soon,

Under the light of a caver’s moon!"

As many of you understand, our event, through the Dogwood City Grotto, is under the umbrella of the NSS.

Recently, the NSS was forced per their own insurance requirements, to change how they cover organizations at NSS supported events. Additionally, our contract with Cloudmont requires that organizations such as The Gauntlet, have insurance coverage despite waivers.

Unfortunately, insurance ain’t cheap and The Gauntlet could not secure the necessary insurance prior to the TAG Fall Cave In. Therefore, they will not be able to be at our event this year.

This makes a great many of us disappointed to say the least.

Because The Gauntlet is a unique program in that they travel from event to event rather than being a brick and mortar business, the insurance industry doesn’t have a cost effective category for them and the cost of insuring their program is upward of $8K.

There is a way you can donate to this outstanding and deserving program to help them to achieve their insurance coverage so that next year and every year after, they will be a TAG Fall Cave In standard.

We will miss our friends at The Gauntlet this year and hope you will consider making a donation to help support this amazing group of talented folks!
