When fiber is not being produced, what else can maximize space and productivity?

The women learnt the circularity aspect in the environment and how that teaches us to maximize space and diversify productivity.

The women were also guided on the challenges groups face, from socio-economic barriers to governance dynamics, yet with strong leadership and environmental awareness, they can transform livelihoods

Beyond fiber, new opportunities emerge. Complementarity ensures resilience and sustainability.

We are building resilience, strengthening communities, and unlocking markets.

Through the Banana Fiber Project, we are conducting a training session on safety, socio-economic, environmental, governance, and livelihood aspects.

The women are learning that maximizing profits begins with strategy, from availability and transport, to processing and marketing that meets real needs.

Girls for girls. She for her. Girl‑centered, girl only sessions.

Whatever we call them, the impact is undeniable when girls speak openly about girl‑centered issues, especially menstruation.

Is menstruation accepted?
Is it prioritized?

It is never a stand‑alone issue. It begins with the lack of period products and escalates into challenges that shape girls’ daily lives.

May is Menstrual Hygiene Month, we had discussions focused on the struggles girls face navigating girlhood, the gaps in access, and the urgent need to break taboos.

We reinforced that education is important and menstruation must never be a barrier to learning, growth, or dignity.

We had the privilege of visiting Hand in Hand, an organization empowering marginalized communities, especially women and youth, through self-help approaches that drive economic and social resilience.

Their clusters focus on group formation, training, value chain development, and market linkages, with impactful initiatives in climate resilience, gender equality, and circular economy projects.

This timely learning exchange offered important insights as we strengthen our own banana fibre project.

Too many girls are being violated under the guise of culture, forced out of school by circumstances beyond their control, and subjected to preventable harms.

We can change this.

FGM must remain in the past, perpetrators of defilement must face justice, and every girl deserves a safe environment to learn, move freely, and express herself without fear.
