Our Orthotic Decision Tree is available as a free resource on our website, but in our Level 1 Gait Course, we take things a step further!

We dive deeper into the factors that influence orthotic selection, exploring how gait mechanics and individual patient needs can guide clinical decision-making.

And that's just one piece of the puzzle! Our Level 1 course covers much more, helping rehabilitation professionals build a stronger foundation in gait and apply that knowledge to clinical practice.

🎥 Here's a little sneak peek at what you can expect!

A little sunshine, fresh fall air, and a whole lot of birds! 🍂🐦

We enjoyed a beautiful (albeit a tad chilly) fall day exploring Bryan Park and learning a thing or two about birding!

A huge thank you to the Richmond Audubon Society for guiding our outing, sharing their knowledge, and teaching us tips for identifying birds by both sight and sound. We quickly learned that birding involves more listening than watching!

Sometimes it's nice to slow down, enjoy the outdoors, and appreciate all that our local parks have to offer. Outings like these are a reminder that exploring our community can take many forms, and every new experience is an opportunity to build confidence along the way. 💙

Episode 4 of our series, Spinal Clearing to Maximize Gait Efficiency, is out now!

In this episode, David shifts his focus to the upper portion of the spine, demonstrating his approach to screening the cervical and thoracic spine for mobility restrictions.

He then walks through manual therapy techniques targeting spinal, soft tissue, and neural mobility to help restore motion throughout the upper spine.

▶️ Episode 4 is available now on the Mission Gait YouTube channel! Stay tuned for Episode 5, where we’ll build on this mobility with neuromuscular rehabilitation exercises for the upper spine.

What a great way to wrap up our 2026 golf season! ⛳

Mission Gait had a wonderful time participating in the Sheltering Arms Different Strokes Golf Tournament! We were excited to have two teams out on the course enjoying some friendly competition, great company, and a beautiful day on the greens.

A big thank you to Sheltering Arms for hosting such a fun event and to everyone who joined us on the course throughout the season.

We're already looking forward to getting back out there next year! 🏌️‍♂️💙

Mission Gait is heading to Atlantic City! 🎤

On November 5, Mission Gait will be presenting at the New Jersey Chapter of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists Annual Meeting at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City.

🕒 3:30–4:30 PM

Our presentation, “Deciphering the Root Causes of Prosthetic Gait Deviations: A Collaborative Approach Between Prosthetists and Physical Therapists”, will explore how prosthetists and physical therapists can work together to look beyond the gait deviation itself, identify the factors contributing to it, and determine the most appropriate path forward.

We’re looking forward to connecting with O&P professionals and sharing a collaborative approach to prosthetic gait analysis and rehabilitation!

Episode 3 of our series, Spinal Clearing to Maximize Gait Efficiency, is out now!

Once you improve mobility, how do you help your patient maintain and use that new motion?

In Episode 3, David demonstrates neuromuscular rehabilitation exercises designed to build upon the mobility gained through manual therapy.

He walks through exercises targeting spinal and pelvic mobility, neural mobility, core stabilization, and motor control to support more efficient movement and gait.

▶️ Episode 3 is available now on the Mission Gait YouTube channel! Stay tuned for Episode 4, where we’ll shift our focus to screening and manual therapy of the cervical and thoracic spine.
