RagBags It's not just about the bag. It's the idea behind the bag. RagBags started with one goal in mind - to help people in a practical way. FAQs

1.

Each RagBag purchased goes 100% into making kits with basic necessities and the message of hope to those in need. The idea came to Sarah Miller in 2009 when she decided to be proactive by providing basic essentials for people with a need. Armed with an array of products, she hit the streets of Bismarck, North Dakota handing out kits containing items such as food, toothpaste, and shampoo. RagBags' goal is to provide hope for people who may have lost it.

Why are there two bags? At RagBags, our goal is to be completely self-sustaining. In order to buy the supplies that go into the necessity kits, our team handcrafts/sews bags, purses, and lanyards. This merchandise is then sold so that we can continue to build and distribute necessity kits. Every dollar from the sale of RagBags merchandise goes directly back into the ministry.

2. Who makes the RagBags merchandise? A collective group of individuals sew and handcraft the items. If you sew or would like to learn how to sew for RagBags, contact us to learn about our sewing classes and workshops.

3.What goes into the necessity kits? We believe there are four parts to the human being: (1) physical, (2) spiritual, (3) emotional, and (4) mental. We strive to address each of these four areas in every necessity kit. Necessity kits contain items such as toiletries, handwritten letters, a Book of Hope*, word finds, socks, and many other items.

General information

How to get involved... *Prayer supporters - Prayer is powerful! We need it more than we need anything else! We need people to pray for God's blessings, guidance, wisdom, and provision as we seek to do His will through the RagBags ministry. *Assemble kits - Assembling necessity kits is a big job! This part of our ministry is another hands-on way to contribute. *Sew for us - We offer fun sewing classes each week so you can learn how to make our products. For experienced sewers, we offer monthly sewing workshops. If you're interested in sewing at home, we can get you connected with our patterns and materials. *Administrative work - In November 2012, the RagBags Etsy shop was launched. There is a lot that goes into maintaining the website, taking product photos, packaging/shipping, etc. We also have opportunities to help with cutting flyers, folding packets, etc. *Booth volunteers - Whenever we have a booth to sell our products (i.e. craft shows) or distribute necessity kits, we need friendly faces to help us. *Shoppers - We need people to use the money we raise to shop for necessity kit items, fabric for bags/products, etc. FOR MORE INFORMATION on any of these opportunities to serve, send us a message through Facebook or e-mail us at [email protected].
