Dog Rescue Newcastle http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au is a group of volunteers who rescue abandoned, neglected or abused companion animals. Our rescued pets receive care and training in foster homes until we find permanent homes for them. We are self-funded and rely on animal loving people to help where they can. We are always in need of more volunteers: foster carers, drivers, groomers, walkers, fundraisers, etc. We also need donations to help us pay our vet bills and other expenses such as pet food and medications. **AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION** PEPPER - 2 YEAR OLD STAFFY X

Meet Pepper, a spicy young lady with a cheeky streak.

Pepper loves zoomies and a wrestle, followed by a close snuggle with her humans. Her stuffed toys and soccer balls are an endless source of entertainment, not only for Pepper, but also for the humans playing and watching all the shenanigans.

Pepper enjoys going for walks and is working on her lead skills. She is interested in other dogs when on a walk and enjoys saying hello and having a sniff through a fence. She is best suited as an only dog at her new home, so that she can soak up all the love and attention.

She takes a little bit to warm to new people, but once she gets to know you, she will be your best friend.

🚨Urgent Foster Carers Needed for Border Collie boys!🚨

These beautiful boys are both 12 months old, and are looking for SEPARATE foster homes.

They love playing fetch and running around in the yard, and are affectionate once they know you.

They are dog friendly (pending a meet and greet)

What they need in a home:
🖤Secure fencing
🤎Kids over 8
🤍No cats or pocket pets
🖤Dog friendly (meet and greet required)
🤎Must have a yard for them to run in

If you can help foster one of these boys, live in the local Greater Hunter or Central Coast region and can provide a secure yard, and a warm place to sleep for one of them, then please complete our foster form below.
All resident dogs must be desexed.

There is absolutely no financial cost at all to you as a foster carer.

🐾Ellie's Story🐾

Ellie had a very hard beginning to life. She was starved and abused before being helped by some amazing good Samaritans. But then, unfortunately their circumstances changed too, and Ellie was pushed from home to home before ending up in a boarding facility.

Ellie didn't cope in the boarding facility at all, and became increasingly stressed, anxious and upset. She paced so much in her pen that the pads on her feet wore down and she was a shell of the dog she could be.

When her amazing foster carers took her on, Ellie was just 10 months old. She's been with them now since February, and received not a single application 😢

Ellie only wants a few things in life. Someone to love her and someone to have the patience to help train her into the wonderful dog she knows she can be!

Ellie is looking for a home with a dog of similar size and energy to her, secure fencing, and no cats or pocket pets. She'd also love an active family and an owner committed to her ongoing training.

Ellie's favourite things 🧸 🦴

My name is Ellie and I've been looking for a home for almost a year now. I am so patient and loving and ready for my forever family!

I am a silly girl, and my funny face and silly personality will always make you smile.

I really enjoy going for walks or doing zoomies in the yard. I'm active and full of beans! So would love a family as active as me.

I like playing fetch, rope games and playing with other dogs. I also love the car!

But what I love most of all is being in a home with my people and using my brain on puzzles and games.

So, let me tell you a little bit about me, and you can see if we might be a match 🫶

🚗I adore the car and travel really well. I love the wind on my face

🛌I sleep quietly in my crate overnight, and am happy in my own space for sleeping.

🐶 I love other dogs of the same size and energy as me, but can be a bit too excitable for smaller or older dogs.

🥾I love walks, and would love to go on long walks everyday!

🏠I need 5ft secure fencing to keep me safe

🍔I love a good treat, and will happily do lots of tricks for it!

**AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION** ELLIE - 1 YEAR OLD BOXER X STAFFY

Meet Ellie, a goofy loveable snugglebug who is always up for play.

Ellie loves nothing more than long walks, sunbathing in the garden and relaxing with a chew. By night, you will find her snuggling up next to her humans for a cozy night in. Whether you’re watching TV or reading a book, Ellie will be right by your side. She sleeps well throughout the night in her bed. However, if there is an offer of a human bed or sofa you will definitely find her keeping a spot warm.

Ellie is food motivated and eager to please which makes training easier around the home. She is fully house trained. She will sit, lay down, wait and show her paw on command but loses focus when the outside world becomes too exciting for her to ignore.

She would be ideally suited to a couple or single person with the ability to handle a strong dog and maintain training on a regular basis. She would also be suitable for homing with a family who already have a large, energetic dog. She is not suitable for homes with small dogs, cats or other small animals as she may be overwhelming for timid animals, although her training is intended to correct this behaviour.

Ellie requires a minimum 30 minute morning walk to settle her into her daily routine. Once walked she is settled for the day with her enrichment toys and a large yard to run around in (minimum 6ft fencing).

Meet Squish - our happy, goofy, loveable Staffy x pup who doesn’t understand that her little heart is struggling to keep up with her big personality.

Only a few weeks ago, Squish found her forever family - people who instantly adored her gentle nature, her cheeky zoomies, and the way she tilts her head when she’s trying to understand every word you say. But recently, everything changed.

After noticing she would tire quickly and sometimes breathe heavily after play, her family took her to the vet. The results were heartbreaking - Squish has a severe heart condition called pulmonic stenosis. Without surgery, her heart will continue to work overtime until it simply can’t anymore.

She’s just a baby at 4 months old, and her life has only just begun. With surgery, Squish has an incredible chance at a long, healthy, love-filled future. Without it, that future could be cut heartbreakingly short.

Her surgery will cost around $12,000–$13,000, an overwhelming amount for one family, but something we can help ease together.

We’re asking our amazing community to come together for Squish this $5 Friday. Every small donation adds up and helps give her the gift of life - whether it’s $5, $10, or simply sharing her story.

This little girl has already brought so much joy to everyone she’s met. Let’s give her the chance to keep doing that for years to come💛

🩷 ADOPTABLE - MEET LUNA 🩷

Luna is an adorable 9 week old Ridgeback X Staffy.

She is a bright, affectionate little soul who’s ready to find her forever home. She’s the kind of pup who will steal your heart with her gentle nature, playful spirit and endless love for her humans.

This gorgeous girl is a true people lover – she’s happiest when she’s by your side, earning her the nickname “our little shadow.”
Whether you’re pottering around the house or heading out for a Bunnings run, Luna is always up for the adventure!

Luna adores cuddles and genuinely believes she’s a lapdog.
She’s got a soft spot for squeaky toys, is learning the ropes of fetch and has a hilarious habit of trying to sneak the cat’s food when no one’s looking (cheeky, but charming!).

She’s doing a fantastic job with her training – she’s learning to sit like a pro and making great progress with her toilet training.
Like any young pup, she’s still learning to sleep on her own but loves a good snuggle before bedtime.

Luna is incredibly clever, curious, and gentle. She’s great with kids aged 2–8 and is learning to be respectful around dogs and cats – although she’s a bit more enthusiastic about them than they are about her (we’re working on it!).

Watching her bound around the yard playing fetch with those adorably gangly legs is pure joy. Luna is the perfect mix of playful and affectionate, and she’s ready to bring love, laughter, and a whole lot of tail wags to her forever family.
