Multi Sensory Room Community Living - West Northumberland A WONDERFUL ARRAY OF SIGHTS, SOUNDS, TEXTURES AND MOVEMENT! What is a Multi Sensory Room? The first Snoezelen Room was established in Canada in 1992.

The intention of the room, is to provide an opportunity for people who have sensory issues and / or developmental disabilities, by providing a room for which primary senses are stimulated. Multi Sensory Rooms come from the concept of Snoezelen that was originally developed in Holland. The intention of the room, is to provide an opportunity for people who have sensory issues and / or developmental disabilities with an appropriate relaxation and leisure facility. A Snoezelen Room is an environment for which primary senses are stimulated by wonderful combinations of music, lighting effects, gentle vibrations, tactile sensations and aromas. Community Living - West Northumberland's, Multi Sensory Room was developed by a small group of committed volunteers and Community Living - West Northumberland staff. It is the only community based Multi Sensory Room in Northumberland
