What can I say about our Comrade and friend Ralph James? Ralph James was one of those rare people whose values were not just spoken, but lived every single day. From Liverpool, he carried a heart that made room for everyone: people, animals, and causes that demanded courage and compassion. His love for animals was a reflection of who he was at his core, gentle, protective, and deeply attuned to the suffering of those without a voice. Kindness, for Ralph, was instinctive. I will never forget the time Haifa and I found a little bird with a injured wing at the Victoria Monument and it was Ralph who advised us the bird was injured and had took it off us to bring it back on the mend.
That same instinct is what drew him, again and again, to the streets. Ralph showed up at every protest. Rain or cold. You could hear him from miles away. We all knew it was Ralph and his theme tune of give peace a chance or Libre Palistina following behind him. If there was a call for justice, he was there, steadfast and unshakeable, standing shoulder to shoulder with others demanding freedom for the Palestinian people. He didn’t protest for attention or praise; he did it because he believed silence was a form of harm, and solidarity was a duty.
Ralph lived selflessly. He gave his time, his energy, and his presence without hesitation. To his community and to all facing oppression. Those who marched beside him knew they could always count on seeing his face in the crowd, calm, determined, and full of quiet resolve. He reminded us that real change is built by ordinary people who refuse to look away.
Though Ralph is no longer with us, his spirit remains deeply alive. It lives in every protest he helped strengthen, in every act of compassion inspired by his example, and in every person who chooses to stand up because he once did. He leaves behind a profound absence, but also a powerful legacy. A life defined by empathy, courage, and an unrelenting commitment to justice. May he be remembered with love. His strength should be considered an inspiration to us all. Rest in peace & power Ralph and give peace a chance everybody.🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
