AmeriCorps VISTAs in the Piedmont Fighting poverty with passion in Cherokee, Spartanburg, and Union Counties. Housed at United Way of the Piedmont

AmeriCorps*VISTA members come from all over the nation to Spartanburg to commit to a year of service at local agencies to build those organizations’ capacity to serve and uplift the poor. By focusing on resource development, volunteer recruitment and management, public relations and marketing, and program development, the members enable their organizations to serve more people more effectively. Although the members cannot directly serve the clients of an organization, their behind-the-scenes capacity building leaves a lasting mark on the agency where they serve, the community, and the lives of the poor. Currently, members are impacting areas such as education, health, mentoring, housing, and more.
