🇦🇺 Armenian Youth Federation of Australia

The Armenian Youth Federation of Australia is a non-profit, youth-led organisation dedicated to promoting Armenian culture, heritage, and values among young Armenians in Australia. We strive to provide a space for 16-26-year-old Armenian-Australians to come together, connect with their heritage, and contribute to the community through educational, cultural, social, political, and athletic initiatives. ORGANISATIONAL
AYF Australia’s highest executive body is the Central Executive committee whose role is to oversee the operational and functional procedures of all AYF chapters across Australia. In turn, each chapter has its Executive Committee which guides the chapter’s activities. CHAPTERS
• Melbourne | AYF "Arapo"
• Northern Sydney | AYF "Nigol Touman"
• Western Sydney | AYF "Pegor"

The chapters have various working committees, each of them with a unique role in the function and organisation of AYF and events held throughout the year. Committees include:
• Educational
• Political
• Social/Fundraising
• Community
• Public Relations
• Membership/Member Engagement
Moreover, members provide a helping hand by volunteering at community events and helping raise awareness about and taking action on various Armenian and Australian social and political issues. INTERNATIONALLY

🇦🇲 The 1895 Zeitun Uprising

In the face of Ottoman oppression, the Armenians of Zeitun stood united in defence of their people and homeland.

From October 1895 to January 1896, Armenian fighters demonstrated remarkable courage and resilience, resisting Ottoman forces despite being heavily outnumbered.

Today, the Zeitun Uprising is remembered as a powerful example of Armenian strength, unity and the enduring spirit of resistance.

Honouring the courage of those who stood to defend their nation. 🇦🇲

Komitas was more than a composer. Through his dedication to collecting, preserving, and sharing Armenian folk songs, he ensured that the voices, traditions, and stories of our people would live on for generations.

Despite the immense tragedy he endured, his legacy remains a symbol of our resilience, heritage, and the unbreakable spirit of Armenians.

Recently, AYF-AU alumni Enger Yeghia went to Goris and organised an informal night with the badanis he was a khmapabed for during our AYF-AU 2024 Jampar that we hosted in Goris!

The havak included a short presentation about AYF Australia, sharing memories and photos from our previous Jampars, as well as plenty of singing, dancing and, of course, pizza! 🍕❤️💙🧡

It is great to see a Badani chapter established in Goris, with our badanis continuing to grow, learn and strengthen their Armenian identity in a place that holds such special meaning for so many of our members.

We love seeing our AYF-AU alumni continue to make the effort to strengthen the friendships and ties formed through initiatives like Jampar ✊🏽

Vartsket gadar Enger Yeghia for continuing to keep these connections strong! 🇦🇲

One of the founding figures of the ARF, Simon Zavarian dedicated his life to the Armenian people and the pursuit of justice, freedom, and national self-determination.

As AYF, we honour his legacy by carrying forward his spirit of service, commitment, and responsibility to our people.
