A little glimpse into WWOOF-USA attending the US’s oldest, largest, and only organic ag fair - welcome to the Common Ground Country Fair! đŸŽđŸ„•đŸ‘©đŸœâ€đŸŒŸđŸŒœđŸŽđŸ”đŸŒŸ

This fair is hosted by Maine Organic Farmers, the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, and for three days, they bring together farmers, homesteaders, craftspeople, families, and people passionate about building sustainable and connected communities.

There was so much to discover at the fair, there was over 700+ events! All sort of lectures, talks, demonstrations, workshops
Many of them focused on unique topics related to sustainable and intentional living - things like sheep dog demos, humanure and peecycling recycling, traditional folk work songs and dancing, talks about seed saving, edible landscaping, and that’s just to name a few!

We were so excited to be there representing WWOOF and connecting with farmers, WWOOFers, hosts, homesteaders, and people just interested in learning more about rural living and sustainable agriculture.

Our big takeaway was that this fair is such a wonderful place for a group of intentional people to come together, share skills, exchange knowledge, and connect with one another.

And that’s really what WWOOF is all about, too - creating opportunities for people to learn through hands-on experiences, living and learning alongside host farmers to help support them and, at the same time, preserving this precious knowledge of how to live in tandem with the land in a regenerative, sustainable, symbiotic way!

Thank you, MOFGA, for having WWOOF join in on the fun and for 50 years of Common Ground - bringing so many people together around the land, food, and community.

WWOOF was originally started in the UK back in the ’70s, with the idea that people from the city could get out onto the land for the weekend (or longer) - helping local farmers, reconnecting with nature, and learning by doing. We love this video because it demonstrates just that! WWOOFer Molly shares about visting , hosts for a second time.

"Being immersed in nature and getting involved in tasks, such as splitting logs, has been a real source of enjoyment! đŸȘ”🌿"

Thank you both for being part of WWOOF

“This week, we went WWOOFing in Treilles, France! For anyone thinking: WWOOF? đŸ¶ Nope, nothing to do with dogs. Through WWOOF, you can lend a hand on an organic farm or vineyard, and in return, you get delicious food, a place to stay, and a behind-the-scenes look at how it all works.

And for us, that meant: grape harvesting! đŸ‡âœ‚ïž

For two days, we helped with the harvest and everything that happens behind the scenes: from grapes on the vine to w**e in the glass. đŸ· And yes
as part of the learning process, there obviously had to be some tasting too 😉

But the best part? The incredibly passionate w**emakers, all the stories, the people we met, and the delicious meals we shared together. ❀

Two days of hard work, lots learned, even more laughs, and above all, a truly special experience to remember!

Conclusion: w**e just tastes that little bit better when you’ve picked the grapes yourself. đŸ·â€

Thank you so much for taking us along the ride with you!
