Bringing men from all walks of life together to share, listen and to gain an understanding of the different male perspectives. What started as a symposium at Sheffield Hallam University in 2015, is re-invigorated by Angga Kara Inspire in oct 2017 to create a series of talks eventually leading to another symposium in late 2018. According to The Samaritans “4 in 5 su***des are men & under 35 su***de is the biggest cause of death”
Recognising the lack of space for men to really express themselves without the social 'mask' / expectations of what a 'man' should be inspired the movement to be reinvigorated. Angga having overcome his own mental health journey & quarter life crisis will be designing & curating the sessions. Angga Kara Inspire presents MEN UP NORTH. It’s a safe space for men to explore topics such as aspirations, mental well-being and personal mastery. Expect honest conversations around what it means to be a man in the 21st century. Taking steps towards the evolution of a modern man. We expect, understand and accept that life have negative and positives. We wish to embrace open discussions on this and all the spectrum of emotions in between. We very much take a forward thinking, positive and progressive approach to mental health, goals and life in general. So, life is not perfect, but at M.U.N we look to the positive and what we can learn from the adversaries. What men up north is:
Progressive
Open
Forward thinking
Safe
Overcoming personal barriers using tools, techniques and learning from others, harvested from the sessions. What men up north is not:
Misogynistic
Derogatory
Group therapy
Being stuck in your past
