Whether you're a high school or university student, school leaver, skate boarder or festival goer Red Frogs are there! History
It all started in 1997 when Red Frogs Australia Chaplaincy Network founder Andy Gourley hit Schoolies Week on the Gold Coast with his youth skateboarding crew. Having been invited to one of the massive parties but denied entry to the building by security, Andy decided to approach the hotel manager to see if they would like him and his mates to provide assistance to the hotel for the rest of the week as he was a strong believer in having designated sober people at parties. To say the exhausted manager was over-the-moon to be offered the support is an understatement and it is from this humble beginning that the Red Frogs Australia Chaplaincy Network was born. Since this time, Red Frogs Australia Chaplaincy Network has become renowned for the support it provides not only to school leavers, but also to uni students, party and festival goers, event managers, sporting groups, and musicians. Red Frogs Australia provides services such as chaplaincy, hydration stations at events, peer support, random acts of kindness, alcohol free events and getaways and alternative choice education programs. It is Red Frogs Australia’s mission to safeguard the next generation by changing the atmosphere of a party or an event to provide a fun, yet safe, lifestyle alternative for young people. Today, the humble Red Frog is now a recognised symbol that makes a connection between young people and a safe supportive environment. The heartbeat of Red Frogs Australian Chaplaincy Network is to serve young people and assist them through some of the most important years of their lives. Why Red Frogs
After being recruited by the hotel to assist during the Schoolies week festivities, Andy and his crew headed to the local super market to buy confectionary to use as an icebreaker. Andy spotted a large box of Allen’s Frogs Alive Red Frogs and convinced the attendant to sell it to him for $10. In the first year crews handed out 80kg, while today more than 10 tonnes of Allen’s Frogs Alive Red Frogs are distributed each year through all programs. It didn’t take long for the teams to become known as “Froggers” or the “Red Frog Crew” and so the banner under which all programs now run is the Red Frogs Australia Chaplaincy Network.
