North Clondalkin Community Choir The North Clondalkin Community Choir unites voices and hearts, celebrating local spirit through music. Mary’s JNS Hall (D22 H504).

Together we create harmony, confidence, and connection—proving that when our community sings, hope and joy rise with every note. We are a voluntary, non-profit community choir based in North Clondalkin, dedicated to promoting equal access to music education. Professionally directed and supported by a committed committee, our choir is inclusive, intergenerational, and diverse, with over 60 members

ranging from age 8 to the young at heart. In just three years, we’ve had the privilege of performing at prestigious venues including St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican (featured in national and international media outlets), Assisi, the Cathedral in Monaco, San Remo, Lourdes, the Custom House, St. John’s Cathedral in Limerick, and the Clondalkin Village Festival. We host two Gala Concerts annually—one at Christmas and another in summer—and rehearse every Monday evening from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at St. If you’d like to learn more or get involved, please email us at [email protected].

Helpful advice on finding the right choir for you: No two choirs are the same. Back to school also means back to choir. Before you join a choir there are a number of key questions you should ask: how much does the choir cost per year? Some choirs are very expensive costing about €350-400 per year with seductive marketing campaigns across social media. Other choirs such as our own are voluntary and work hard to eliminate the barriers towards accessing professional music education. Some expensive choirs are based on a karaoke model. Usually there's the offer of a free session to pull you in! Does the choir perform with live music or backing tracks? Is it only one main style of singing i.e Pop or Gospel. What is the level of challenge involved in the choir? Is there good travel, social & performance opportunities? Is the Musical Director properly qualified and experienced in their field? Is the Director a qualified teacher registered with the Teaching Council for example? Are there leadership opportunities within the choir? Is it run by a committee? Always ask the questions before parting with your hard earned money. If a choir gets offended because you asked questions, then maybe it's not the right choir for you!

🎶 A reminder that we're marking Recovery Month with the Corkagh Big Sing in support of the Beacon of Light Counselling Centre.

Join us for an unforgettable and incredible line-up of choirs, performers and solo artists joining forces in song and solidarity.

This is more than a concert. It's an opportunity to shine a light on the vital mental health supports available in our community, celebrate recovery and show that nobody has to walk their journey alone. As a community, we support one another by lifting each other up especially in times of crisis. Together, let's lift our voices on Sept 20th and start a new movement with the Corkagh Big Sing.

There’s a special feeling in the air right now. It’s not just the change in the weather, it’s the anticipation of the start of our new autumn/winter term! We start back rehearsing next Monday 7th September having had a couple of months off to rest the vocal chords.

It’ll be lovely to meet the new members who have signed up; a bit daunting for them, but we guarantee we’ll put them at ease.

We’ve already had invitations to perform over the coming months so the excitement is mounting!

We have our AGM tonight and I just know it won’t get started until everyone has hugged, laughed and chatted with their choir friends. There may even be a few tears.

Don’t forget to join us and some big names at the Big Sing fundraiser on 20th September. Proceeds go to the Beacon of Light counselling service.

Following the example of Glen Hansard (RIP), we're marking recovery month by supporting our local charity Beacon of Light Counselling Centre with the Corkagh Big Sing which will take place on Sept 20th from 11am to 3pm. Come along and be part of a special celebration of music, community and hope. Local musicians are generously sharing their time and talent to help raise mental health awareness and support those who need it most. Our own choir will close this event with a number of uplighting tunes that audience members can sing along to.
