BW Monastery’s main focus is to promote the learning of “The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment”, also commonly known as Lamrim. This classical doctrine, written by Tibetan Venerable Master Tsong Kha Pa, encompasses a comprehensive teaching and guide on the Buddhist paths and practices required to attain Buddhahood and is the guiding principle for all of BW Monastery’s endeavors. BW Monastery offers classes to understand the Lamrim and to study the Dharma. Our classes have grown from a small number in the early days to a total of 145 classes today with more than 3,500 members attending our Lamrim classes weekly. Besides focusing on imparting the teachings of the Dharma, we also advocate application in our daily lives. We encourage our members to propagate kindness and provide them opportunities to volunteer through the various activities we organize so that they can manifest the spirit of service to others and in doing so, help spread kindness and virtue to others, warming hearts and making the world we live in a much better place. BW Monastery has grown from strength to strength since its formation. The organization has expanded its premises from its Geylang headquarter to other parts of Singapore, including Aljunied, Chinatown and Clementi. To better serve the public and to organize bigger and more varied charity events, we successfully won a tender bid for a plot of land in Woodlands Drive 16 Avenue 6 in 2014, to allow us to build our very own monastery building.
