TalkClub Hastings with Mr. - Men's Room Hastings & St Leonards is on Thursday 8th October at Grumpy Cook Hastings 6–8pm.
We ask one simple question…

“How are you? Out of 10?”

Never been to TalkClub before? That’s absolutely fine. You don’t need to know anyone, you don’t need to prepare anything, and you don’t have to speak if you’re not ready.

Just turn up. We’ll welcome you, explain how it works and make sure you’re not left wondering what to do.

There’s no pressure, no judgement and no expectation to spill your life story.

Just a room full of men having a proper chat and checking in with each other.

Meet Travis 👋

Travis is one of those annoying people who genuinely believes men should talk about their feeling and then discovered that apparently this meant he had to talk about his own too.

He’s been involved in men’s mental health and wellbeing for several years, using film, theatre, storytelling and good old-fashioned conversation to get men talking about the stuff we’re often very good at pretending isn’t happening.
He assisted with the creation of the award-winning short film Men Don’t Talk?. He has spoken publicly about men’s mental health and su***de and took part in The Monologues of Men - bringing real men, real stories and real conversations into the same room.

These days, you’ll find him with Talk Club and The Men’s Room, helping create spaces where men can turn up exactly as they are - whether they’re having a brilliant day, a rubbish one, or have simply forgotten why they walked into the room.

His professional qualifications include making cups of tea, asking awkwardly good questions and occasionally saying “How are you? Out of 10?”
He believes that talking probably won't fix everything but keeping it all bottled up definitely isn't doing us any favours.

Likes: Streaming games, Beach or Woodland walks and summer evenings
Favourite thing: Probably my dog
Why Im part of the team: Specifically to annoy David 😂 😂

Come as you are. Talk if you want. Listen if you don't. And nobody gets judged for crying - unless it's during a football match. Then we're going to need a serious conversation. 😄

Our local knowledge guide Ralph, will be hosting our regular wellbeing and wildlife walk around Alexandra Park, Hastings.

Take a slow meander around this beautiful Victorian park as Ralph tells you all the local wildlife and plants. There are cafes and toilets available at the Park, but lunch will be brought to you all at Harmer's Lay-by after the walk.

Meet Maz 👋
Role: Director of Mr Hastings & St Leonards CIC, Talk Club Captain Hastings, A Band of Bothers Hastings Mentor, Trustee of Hands of Hope Charity and Head of Business Developnent for Keywords Studios.

Maz is a very familiar face in the media localisation world, having spent over three
decades building relationships and driving growth across subtitling, dubbing, access
services, and content packaging for some of the biggest names in global media. He
joined Keywords from Visual Data, where he served as SVP Worldwide Localisation

What really sets Mazin apart is the network he’s built along the way — deep, long-
standing relationships with partners, studios, and content holders that only come
from decades of doing right by people.
Outside of work, he’s a passionate advocate for men’s mental health, running his
own community led charity as well as being a youth mentor. Mazin also volunteers
with several community initiatives near his home in Hastings in the UK.

Fun fact : mazin was an extra in Eastenders and the Bill in the 90’s
Fave things - Wife, daughter 1 and daughter 2

Why I'm part of the team: I believe in paying it forward. I want to help men in need to become better men.

A bit about me:
I'm gay, recently turned 40, probably weigh a little more than I should, and still enjoy pretending I'm a cyclist! I can talk for days about mental health, and I'm equally happy talking tech, AI and anything new and interesting.
Likes: Computers, Cycling, Travelling and Tattoos
Favourite thing: Coffee!!!
Why I’m part of the team: I forgot to cancel the free trial!
Fun fact: I absolutely hate tomatoes!!! (Everyone already knows this though)
