Our first program is the development of the You+I website (http://www.YouPlusI.net) to promote the idea of "What would our world look like with one billion more acts of kindness, every day?"
THE TWO GOALS:
1. A BILLION ACTS OF KINDNESS (AOKs), EVERY DAY
2. A BILLION MEMBERS
The website's goal is to enroll one billion members globally (basic memberships are free), and record one billion acts of kindness, reported by members, every day, and reflected via a thermometer on the website showing the current count of AOKs (Acts Of Kindness) for the day, as well as a timeline showing each AOK reported by members (via text message, Tweet, email message of directly entered on the web site). Each AOK is reported by geo-location, member handle, short text description, and optionally a short video or a photo taken by the reporting member. MATCHING SUPPORT SEEKERS WITH SUPPORT OFFERERS
The website will also allow members to create a profile with information on what kind of support they offer, and what kind of support they are looking for. Members can search for matching profiles, and connect with other members that need support or offer support. We have started a Charter Membership fundraising campaign at the end of November 2016, to raise funds to build and launch the You+I website, hopefully by June 2017. OUR HISTORY
We had a team of 5 computer science senior students from Colorado University who who spent an entire semester helping us design and develop the website. In November 2016, we launched our "Charter Membership" campaign. For $72 you can become a YOU+I Charter Member, entitling you to
- have your name appear on the Charter Members web page,
- have a free one-year Premium Membership starting on the day we officially launch the YOU+I web site.
- discounts on YOU+I branded member business cards, and other branded products
At the end of 2020, we disbanded the organization due to lack of interest and lack of resources. JANUARY 15, 2021
Due to the rising unrest and divisiveness not only in America but in many other places in the world, I decided to resurrect this You+I page as well as the "Acts of Kindsness are AOK" FB group page. Please join that group if you want to express solidarity with our worldwide movement's goal to put the human back into (our) humanity. It's free and will also allow you to connect and interact with like-minded people from all over the world, to make this world, OUR world, a better place. Namaste
