Art House Theater Day poster drop! 🔥

The official AHTD poster was designed by Kyle Calvert (), and “was inspired by what art houses do best: merging the best and brightest of global, repertory, and indie film into a cohesive and enlightening theatrical experience."
Plus, we think it’s beautiful. As beautiful as seeing a movie in your local art house theater! 😄

We've also added new titles to the 2026 slate! 🥁🍿

The AHTD Programming Team (Rebecca Fons, Stephanye Watts, Bradley Smith, and Alissa Humphrey) have selected four new titles for the slate. Joining the previously announced SORRY TO BOTHER YOU (Outsider Pictures), are two 50th anniversary films from legendary directors Sidney Lumet and Michael Shultz: NETWORK (Park Circus, Amazon MGM Studios) and CAR WASH (Universal Pictures). Two new titles from visionary directors, Johanne Gómez Terrero and Virgilio Villoresi: SUGAR ISLAND (Artmattan Films) and ORFEO (Oscilloscope Laboratories) round out the lineup. (Additional titles may be announced at a later date and while we encourage participation through our official slate, you are welcome to celebrate and sign up for AHTD with your own programming, too!)

We invite all independent CINEMAS to JOIN THE CINEMA PARTY! Booking information can be found at arthousetheaterday.com or at the link in our bio. Make sure to sign up by June 1st to receive official assets (including promotional spots from Boots Riley) and to be included on our public map of participating venues. 🔗

🚨ATTENTION CINEMAS🚨
Curious what your audiences have to say on all things at your theater? 🤔

By signing up your cinema for the National Audience Survey, you allow your patrons to share their experiences and find out why they visit your space (among countless other notable points). As a part of our results, your cinema's individual data gets aggregated for industry-wide statistics on the independent cinemas across the US all while better understanding your specific audience.

This research is critical to our collective work and we can't do it without your participation! 🫵

Check out some highlights we found out in 2025 ➡
And sign up your cinema by following the link in our bio 🔗

This survey is conducted in partnership with Avenue ISR.

🚨 AHC needs your help! 🚨 SURVEY DEADLINE EXTENDED!
If you run an independent cinema, we'd love to hear from you with this survey. If you don't, share it with someone you know who does. 🤩

The cinema operations survey is designed to collect basic data about—and for—the art house community. Your participation in this survey is critical! This data is instrumental in the everyday work of all art house exhibitors, from audience development to grant writing, from securing on-screen advertisers to better understanding our local and national communities. 🍿📽

Some important things to note:
-Only one response per organization will be accepted.
-All resulting reports, publications, presentations, and any other public sharing of the data collected from this report will anonymize all participating organizations.
-You do NOT need to be an AHC member to complete the survey.
-If necessary accommodations require you to take this survey verbally – either via phone or video chat – please contact [email protected].
-Once you begin the survey you can stop and return to it later. To do so, use the same link you initially accessed the survey with.
-You have the opportunity to opt into an AHC giveaway; your status in the giveaway is not determined by your survey data or participation.
-With data gathered ahead of time, this survey will take approximately 25 minutes to complete.

The deadline for completion of this survey is March 31st! 🍿⏱

We recommend to avoid using mobile devices to complete the survey, but you can follow the link in our bio to find the survey. 🔗
