Art House Convergence is proud to sponsor a scholarship to CICAE's upcoming Arthouse Cinema Training later this Summer in Berlin. This will be the 23rd iteration of this intensive program for cinema operators from across the world to learn a deep understanding of operations and management from some of the leading experts of the industry.
This year, we are excited to welcome Sarah Mueller, Founder and Executive Director of cinéSPEAK, to join like-minded people from all corners of the globe participating in this program.

Sarah Mueller is a cinephile, cultural organizer, and proud 24-year resident of Philadelphia whose work centers film as a catalyst for connection, creativity, and social change. She is the Founder and Executive Director of cinéSPEAK, a Philadelphia-based arthouse cinema and journal dedicated to cultivating transformative film experiences for filmmakers and audiences alike. Since founding cinéSPEAK in 2013, Sarah has championed award-winning cinema while strengthening local communities and amplifying global movements for liberation and justice.
Deeply embedded in Philadelphia’s independent media landscape, Sarah has collaborated with some of the city’s most influential arts institutions. She served as assistant producer for Scribe Video Center’s Street Movies! program (2006–2012), worked on the core operations team for BlackStar Film Festival (2013–2018), and produced special projects for PhillyCAM (2019–2022). She also served as local producer for Doc Society’s Good Pitch Local Philadelphia in 2020 and 2021, supporting documentary filmmakers in bringing urgent stories to wider audiences.
At the heart of Sarah’s work is a belief that access to authentic and diverse storytelling is a fundamental human right. Through film, she strives to challenge systems of oppression, foster empathy, and inspire collective action toward a more just and equitable world.
