World Central Kitchen WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian and climate crises. Learn more at wck.org.

Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises, while working to build resilient food systems with locally led solutions. Applying our model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served hundreds of millions of nourishing meals around th

e world. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes with the urgency of now to start cooking and serving meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively. To support regional economies, WCK prioritizes purchasing local ingredients to cook with or distribute directly to families in need. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis.

"We provide [meals] to people who need them the most. That is, people with limited mobility and disabilities who cannot cook their own food. That is why we provide them with support." - Inna, WCK Ukraine Team Member

Since the early days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, WCK teams have been on the ground in Kharkiv, supporting families through hot meals, meal kits, and, most recently, support to shelters. Hear from WCK's Inna about how our work in this region has evolved and how our local partners work every day to make sure families have the meals they need. https://suspilne.media/kharkiv/1307147-gotuemo-sim-dniv-na-tizden-bez-pererv-na-svata-ta-vihidna-ak-u-harkovi-z-pereselencami-pracue-world-central-kitchen/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=dhfacebook&utm_content=app.dashsocial.com%2Fworld-central-kitchen%2Flibrary%2Fmedia%2F678033378

Before the Mayon Volcano in the Philippines erupted, Glen and his fellow farmers were earning enough to live and save. The eruption destroyed their crops. Their livelihoods were devastated.
Glen is the president of his community's farmers association—and the person his neighbors turn to in moments like this one. His answer? Stay together. Keep going.
"In our time of need, we stood together as one."
WCK was on the ground in the Philippines, providing free, hot meals so families like Glen's could focus on rebuilding.

At WCK's Zahlé Kitchen in Lebanon, our teams are working closely with local community members to source vegetables from family gardens. Many families in Dalhamiyeh already have their own land with which they grow crops, so WCK teams are buying what residents grow to use in our meals. With each locally-sourced vegetable, our team can nourish displaced people going through unimaginable challenges while keeping money in the local Lebanese economy.

Mohammad is an aspiring chef in Gaza.
In the mornings, 13-year-old Mohammad goes to school, then fetches water for his mother. Then he heads to a WCK kitchen because he wants to help feed his neighbors. Mohammad wants to be a chef. Not just any chef—he wants to be like Chef Wasim, one of the WCK chefs he works alongside every day. He has watched Wasim and the rest of the team show up, cook with care, and feed people who have nothing. And he wants to do the same. In the middle of everything Gaza's children are living through, Mohammad is already living his purpose.

It's been about four months since our work began in partnership with Panzi Hospital and Good News For Africa—and we have a lot to share.

We began by serving hot meals at Panzi Hospital, making sure healthcare workers and patients have access to nourishing meals to fuel recovery.

Soon after, with Good News for Africa, we expanded to support Kalehe Hospital, schoolchildren, and orphanages in the area.

We're working side by side with our local partners, relying on their knowledge and deep community connections to help us reach the people who need us most—serving hundreds of thousands of meals to date.

We are also closely monitoring the Ebola outbreak in the DRC. At this time, our teams and the communities we support are not affected—but we remain vigilant and in close contact with our partners on the ground as the situation develops.

We know that healing means eating with dignity. That's why WCK is committed to supporting the most vulnerable people as they navigate extremely challenging conditions.

In the wake of a volcanic eruption, fresh vegetables are often hard to find. That’s why WCK’s teams provided kits stocked with onions, garlic, chayote, and other colorful, locally-loved produce to families impacted by the Mayon Volcano eruption earlier this month. These kits help families in the crucial step of cooking for themselves again as they return home.

Muslims worldwide are marking Eid al-Adha—a time of reflection, sacrifice, and community. For families in Gaza, this sacred holiday arrives after two and a half years of unimaginable hardship. Before the conflict, the first day of Eid meant new clothes, family gatherings, and the joyful anticipation of a feast. Today, many families wake up unsure of where their next meal will come from. This Eid al-Adha, WCK's teams are serving protein rich meals with rice for displaced families across Gaza, cooking with love and care to bring even a small sense of celebration to a day that once meant so much. Because even in the hardest moments, traditions are worth honoring.
