Hope and Play This is a page to celebrate the lives of Gaza's children. It is a page to support their right to live in freedom and dignity. We are not about religion.

Our mission for this page is to make a positive difference to the lives of Palestinian children in Gaza. What this means is...

1) We promote engagement. At the very least, we want people to know what is happening to children in Gaza. A better objective for us is that our fans actually do something to help. We encourage participation with any organisation that is positively trying to make things better, not just our own.

2) Our topic is a tightly defined one. We are not about the occupation in general, though we recognise that it is the main cause of the problems the children in Gaza face. We welcome supporters and fans from any religion, and support children in Gaza regardless of their family's religious beliefs.

3) This is a site we would like Gaza's children and parents to be happy and encouraged to see. So we are absolutely about support. We are not about profanity, sloganeering or inciting hatred.

Some of the best moments don't need a lot of explaining.

Under the olive trees, children sat shoulder to shoulder at long tables with paper, pencils and crayons, and drew.

One girl held up her picture with a green hill, a little yellow house, a mosque, birds across a bright blue sky and someone up a ladder in a tree.

Another bent so close to her page that her whole world was a blue building and one red flower.

Artist Basel El Maqosui-Visual Arts led the day, helping each child find something of their own to put on paper.

We could look at these photos all day. Thank you for helping make moments like this possible, even from far away.

Another week, another group of women sitting down together in Beit Lahia.

From the 17th to the 22nd of October, our sixth group took part in the psychological first aid and entertainment program. Six days of talking, laughing, resting, and being looked after for a change, in a place where most of these women spend every other day looking after everyone else.

Six groups in now. Each one has asked for more, and each one has left a little lighter than it arrived.

Not sure we can imagine how much these women carry.

Our partners on the ground make this happen, and we're so grateful to everyone who helps keep it going, even from far away.

Sixty municipal staff, one certificate each, and a very proud president handing them out.

Last Wednesday, the 14th of October, our partners on the ground ran a workshop in Beit Lahia on using artificial intelligence in administrative work, at the municipality's own request.

Beit Lahia is right at the northern edge of Gaza, near the border and the yellow line, one of the most dangerous places to live and work.

The people who keep it running asked to learn something new, and that says a lot about them.

Thank you for being part of this, even from far away.

Last Wednesday, the 14th of October, sixty staff members from the Beit Lahia municipality sat down together for a workshop on using artificial intelligence in their everyday administrative work.

It was the municipality itself that asked for it.

Beit Lahia sits at the far northern edge of Gaza, right up against the border and the yellow line, and it is one of the most dangerous places to be.

The people who work there still show up to keep things running, and they asked for new skills to do it better.

At the end, the president of the municipality came to the graduation and handed out the certificates himself.

Our partners on the ground organized it, and it was a lovely thing to see.

This is the very definition of resilience. Gazans showing up, learning, supporting, living despite and in spite of everything.

Thank you for making days like this possible, even from far away.

Getting parents involved in their kids’ education is so important.

That’s why our incredibly active headteacher Tamam and her dedicated teachers held this interactive session with 50 mums to help strengthen links between their school environment, at ‘home’ (all these families, and our teaching staff, now live in tents) and also give the mums a moment of levity amidst all they have to endure.

Thanks to all of you we have 800 students in school and are looking to open more schools to meet demand. We’re so grateful for your support ❤️

Olive season has always been one of the great gatherings of Palestinian life.

Our grandparents lived by it: the picking, the sharing, the long days under the trees that ended in laughter and food.

This week the Farasht team spent a heritage day in the Al-Darraj neighborhood, celebrating that tradition among what remains of the olive trees after so much of the area was flattened.

Fewer trees than there used to be, but the trees that are left still gave them a place to gather, remember, and enjoy each other's company.

They had a lovely time. Some things survive because people keep showing up for them.

Olive season was always more than a harvest. It was a celebration our grandparents built their year around.

This week the Farasht team spent a heritage day in the Al-Darraj neighborhood, among the olive trees that are still standing after so much of the area was demolished.

There are fewer trees now, but there is still shade, still memory, and still a reason to gather.

They enjoyed every minute of it.

Our Butterly Dance Troupe invites you to celebrate the olive harvest with them 🕊️

Like olive trees themselves, our teams and partners in Gaza remain steadfast in the care they provide for their community. And through the meals, psychosocial support, cultural workshops, art clubs, and schools they run - still supporting around 20,000 kids and their families each month - they keep learning and hope alive - rooted in dignity and self sufficiency. 🌈

We’re so honoured to be able to keep supporting them ❤️

We'd love to share with you more photos of the ongoing workshops we've organized with our partner on the ground The Canaan Institute for New Pedogogy and our amazing artists.

These boys had a great time drawing and coloring, though life remains extremely difficult for them and their families.

These activities run alongside our larger programme of emergency support to children and families which has now reached over 200,000 people inside Gaza.

This workshop e was facilitated by artist . Find out more about Diana below, and please donate so we can continue to run these workshops. 100% of donations go directly into our activities with Hope and Play’s trustees covering the charity’s admin costs. Visit hopeandplay.org to learn more on how your support creates real positive impact on the ground for these kids.

Thank you.
