Bandits threatened to kill Oyo pupils if troops came closer - Defence Minister
I heard it directly from his mouth!!!
About 50 men, women and children were kidnapped from about three different communities in broad daylight.
They were all picked from SCHOOLS.
There were children as young as 2-year olds amongst them.
It happened on Friday, 15th May 2026 so it will be TWO MONTHS in a matter of 6 days.
One of those abducted was Alagba Michael Oyedokun, a Mathematics Teacher. He was tied up and slaughtered in broad daylight and before cameras and in the presence of his colleagues. Those children must have seen it live.
They were thoroughly traumatised by that singular action. Even people who watched it on their phones at home were traumatised. I never opened it. No use .
There are parents of those kids, wives, children.and families waiting for TWO MONTHS, very agonisingly.
There is a SITTING GOVERNOR who told us his administration purchased DRONES to prevent or burst this kind of scenario.
We haven't heard the DRONES performing their functions till now.
Then a Minister of Defence, a Four Star General is admitting HELPLESSNESS on behalf of his Commander-in-Chief, the President!!!
How can this be acceptable???
These guys have already demonstrated a capacity to kill everyone of those hostages.
You know they can and will do it.
They are sadists
And they are no ordinary criminals but well-trained FIGHTING FORCE.
So what are the Defence Minister and his soldiers waiting for?
He wants us to be waiting the spectacle of daily slaughter or what?????
How have they been FEEDING, the Bandit and the Hostages? Are we to understand that they are getting supplies through from OUTSIDE to their LOCATION which is known to the Military?
If the Military doesn't know their LOCATION the bandits won't be warning them not to get closer.
It DEFINITELY means the Miliary allows them get supplies but the Bandits won't allow the soldiers into their camp.
Isn't that crazy?
So what happens?
1. We agree to their terms, free their commanders, open the treasury to give them tonnes of money and give them trucks so they can plot further attacks with the guns ammunitions and equipmens they acquired with our money?
2. Leave them there until they get bored or frustrated enough to start slaughtering the innocent victims?
What?
I don't understand!!!
I have read somewhere, in the US I believe, where a proposal [ or decision ] against Plane Hijacking was to send the Airforce to shoot down the plane altogether.
You can't give terrorists the chance to use HOSTAGES as a leverage to armtwist the Government to getting their wishes because their demands will always be far worse and will ultimately take more number of lives than the ones that they are bargaining with.
The BEST BET is to never allow terrorists any space to grab hostages. Once they grab and there is NO OTHER WAY to rescue them, the NEXT BEST BET is to tear down the whole place.
The best bet in this Oyo situation, unless the AUTHORITIES ARE COMPLICIT, is for the Military to take their chances from the Air to attack that camp.
Free the kids and adults with as little collateral damage as possible.
Let it be written that whatever innocent lives are possibly lost, hopefully not any, happened in the heat of battle to save them than having to keep it in our collective memories that they died like rams at slaughter.
The Terrorists will think twice around the country before they kid another hostage once they know they won't get anything other than losing their lives.
Our Elders in Yoruba land say it is more palatable and easier to bear the reality of a DEAD CHILD than the agony of a MISSING CHILD.
Enough of this agonising situation.
It is a huge embarrassment to the country.
