The annual International E-Waste Day (IEWD) raises public awareness about e-waste recycling and encourages everyone to recycle their e-waste responsibly. The theme for IEWD 2026 is 'Protect Our Planet🌍: Safe and Secure E-Waste Recycling', and focuses on safe disposal practices that help prevent battery-related fire risks, as well as secure recycling solutions to safeguard personal data.

Co-organised by the National Environment Agency and the appointed operator of the Producer Responsibility Scheme for e-waste, ALBA E-Waste Smart Recycling ALBA Singapore, the event was graced by Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment and Ministry of Education Janil Puthuchearyn 10 October 2026 at Kampung Admiralty.

A key highlight was the launch of the six-month ALBA Secure-Recycle trial — Singapore's first secure data-bearing device recycling programme with end-to-end data assurance. Members of the public can drop off their mobile phones, laptops and tablets at selected Pick! lockers and SPX Express service points, with the journey tracked through to licensed recyclers and data destruction. Users receive a Certificate of Destruction upon completion. ♻️ 🌱

Be part of the movement! Recycle your e-waste safely, securely and responsibly today! Together we can make Singapore cleaner and greener for generations to come. 💚
